After public request to change to the white-fronted goose hunting season, a motion was passed by a 4-2 roll call vote. As of now, the proposed hunting time for the white-fronted geese, or Specklebelly goose, is 88 days with a two bird limit.

"However we tend to have a 74 day season with a three-bird bag limit,” Tommy Tuma, the Forestry Program Manager, explained. "So there's been some discussion about whether we need a 3 or 2 bird bag limit, but overall in our public meetings that I’ve attended in the last week and during this public comment period it's been overwhelming that generally hunters want and prefer the 74 day season."


Tuma also said, that this decision is not set in stone and the public will have the opportunity from now until may to comment on the topic, and he encourages everyone to do so.
