I understand - not arguing re that particular application.
Some of the Daiwa Tatula reels are almost as light and are advertised to to be "virtually backlash-free." I presume they hold more line than the one you're using, but don't know (I have a few, but I just spool on line until they are "full").
Lew's makes a "skipping/pitching reel" that is light and has very limited line capacity - supposed to limit backlashes while skipping jigs. I have one but haven't fished with it yet.
eta: Forgot to say that the Lew's reel I mentioned has an extra wide spool which, in addition to a very limited line capacity, is supposed to limit overruns. I don't remember the model - I think it's called an "SLP" or something like that.

I fished 8# yozuri hybrid on a jerkbait rod for a couple year summers. I had an okuma 100 alumina baitcaster with the drag set perfect. Threw bandit 100s, thin-Ns, husky jerk 10s, and then sight fished with senkos in extra clear gravel pits.
You should be able to run 6# flouro on a pixy without any concern. The line is strong enough, you have a good drag, and let the rod absorb any hard head shakes.

14 pound Suffix Siege mono is the lightest I use but, I normally fish around cover.

quote:I went with Trilene Transoptic 8lb. It was the smallest diameter 8lb in the store. Casts great on that reel.
