4LSU2 would feel better about myself if I had come through with what I promised for Josey.

I wouldn't even ask to use someone's boat. That's something you don't borrow.

Never have, especially since I have my own dependable rig. He offered and logistically it made sense to both of us.

No worries man. The benefit was a HUGE success in many ways. Most of all, it showed many of us here life lessons that won't ever be forgotten and molded friendships that can't be broken. For that, we are all better people. That is all that matters.

100% agree. Boats are sacred.

Meaux over the years I have donated quite a few things and I bet almost half the time the items go unclaimed. I have had two people spend over 2K on a duck hunt in Venice at a DU banquet never call me about going. It's crazy... If I spent money on something I would make sure I used it, not so for everyone.

I don't have any problems letting my friends that fish borrow my boat, but any of the ones that would want/need to know how to handle a boat and have their own for
the most part.

I wouldn't let that stuff bother you.
Oftentimes, the person mainly just wanted to make a donation.
You get busy and you just can't find the time to go.

To the OP's question, as I've gotten older I've accquired more stuff that I care less about. If someone wanted to borrow something, I'd be apt let them use it.

The difference here is this is this man's livelihood so Id be particular with it.

There's some that I would and some that I wouldn't. I know how other people treat their own gear and you can't just assume they'll treat yours any better. There is a friend or two I know without a doubt would tell me if they were at fault or if it truly was a fluke if something were to happen.

I've heard there's only two things you should never loan to a friend. That's your woman or your truck, you never know when he might throw a rod in either of them.

CCA and DU both have "undercover" people in the crowd whose sole goal is to drive up the price to a reasonable amount. If they end up with it you never get the call

Conundrum has got 1 call in 5 offshore trips that have been won

My buddies and I all have sailboats. They are rarely all in the water at the same time. We've sailed together enough that we have no problems sharing boats. Generally I know how they treat their own boats so I don't have a problem with them taking mine because I know that they're just like me about it. When I'm taking one of their boats, I treat it better than I treat my own. Works out pretty good.

Hos boat will be topped off and deck scrubbed. Being in the business he's in he don't have a lot of time to do that so I'm excited for him that it will be done.

I would be too paranoid the entire trip if I was borrowing a friends boat. I don't mind breaking my own shite but not somebody else's.

My grandfather always used to say " there are three things a man should never loan out:

Your gun

Your wife

Your boat
