I've ran into that problem as well.... If you take the cover off, there is a little pin in there that hooks the line when you reel in.... Sometimes it's pushed in some and I got to pull it out with some needle nose

Just remove the nut that holds that part down. Then clean and grease. Put it back together. No other parts will fall out.

There's that, but in general, they have lower gear ratios. They just don't take in as much line per crank as most spinning reels.

I've done it plenty. Switched to trigger spin last year and rather that.

When the fish move up to spawn, this is a killer way to catch them. Set the jig about 12" under the cork. Work it like you would be fishing trout. No wind days, use a bigger cork and windy days, smaller cork.

This also works fishing ponds. Look for down trees in the water. Cast towards the bank. Set the cast to were you will be working the bait on side of the main log. Just pop it along as you reel in.

That can happen. I'm just waiting for the Mississippi River to go into another slow drop. I was planning on hitting Old River this weekend coming, but it looks like a shite load of rain. Once the river does what I want, I will be just about living at my camp there and I'm always looking to have someone to fish with me on the week days.

I'll let you know when I have some time off, and I'll come outfish you with my JB Salter Jigging Pole.

I don't really fish Old River until July-ish, but its looking like the water shouldn't be as high this year with the mild winter.

Sounds like a deal to me.

I got another mess of trees I need to bring out there as soon as the water goes down a little.

That would be another good bet. Good thing sac-au-lait tackle is cheap, unlike bass fishing.

I've always been told, if you're not getting hung up, you're not fishing in the right spot. (about white sac-o-craps).

When the water is high and fishing the brush, I will go thru 2 bags of heads and 2 bags of tube tails a day. All that before 10 am. 20 is not all that bad.

I have a honey hole that should be turnning on when the river hit around 27'. That should be about Saturday. If its not rainning, I will hit it.
