Never have heard of this fish. Looked it up and WOW, that is one ugly fish. Looks like evolution forgot that fish.

It did, you have to remember to lip them when you catch them so they do not thrash about.

BTW they are called Grinnel here in TX

What do you catch fish on then?

I guess live bait isn't technically a lure, but I consider anything I tie on my line to be a lure I guess

If that's the case then I guess I do like em

Sturgeon is live bait. Redfish/specks is live bait. Although I want to try fly fishing for reds. Steelhead is salmon eggs. I fly fish for trout. When I go offshore for Salmon we troll with lures but I'm not constantly reeling in (obviously). Bottom fishing is with live baits or with jigs.

I bass fish a lot so I'm almost always throwing something artificial. For saltwater though I've always had better luck with live bait, but I haven't done much saltwater fishing and will admit I'm pretty clueless about it.

I fish artifical almost exclusively outside of the summer months. When I fish the rigs and islands I like live bait. Over the next week I will only fish artificial.

If I go with someone else I play copycat. If I'm by myself or with someone else who's clueless it's a crap shoot

I took a friend a few years ago and I had a platic on under a cork. He had never dished that way and didn't want to try it. 10-15 minutes and 7 fish later he was begging for me to give him a cork

1. Permit, a 100+ tarpon, and musky
2. Redfish and tarpon in the salt, bream in freshwater
3.I have a bream that weighed 1lb. 14oz. and a bass that weighed 6 that I caught when I was 10.
4.Bass-watermelon flake trickworm, Bream-Johnson beetle spin, Redfish and trout-any style of fluke or a twitchin rap
5.Several catfish around twenty and a redfish that was right under 20.
6. I only use a baitcaster when fishing for bass in heavy cover, with a heavy lure, or when using live shiner. Otherwise I'm going to have a spinning rod in my hand.
7. Not even close as far as I'm aware.

Mine: Halibut, tuna, peacock bass
2. What's your favorite fish to catch?
Mine: Speckled trout
3. Do you have any mounted fish, if so, what is it and how much did it weigh?
Me: None
4. What is your go to lure?
Mine: dead shrimp
5. What's the biggest size fish you've caught?
Mine: Lemon fish (60 lbs)
6. Baitcast reel or spinning rod, what do you prefer?
Me: Baitcast.
7. Do you have or have had a state/ national/ world record fish? Or someone in your family?
Me: Should have number two gaftop catfish. Caught one 7 lbs 15 oz. I know for a fact that there have been several that size and into the 8 lb range weighed in at rodoes but for some reason only three have been submitted to the state. Number two is in the 6 lb range. I may have to go after this record
