I'm left handed to and shoot right handed rifles. Grew up doing it. I bought a left hand Remington 700 and it's awkward.

Lefty here who's always shot righty. Luckily right eye dom so understand wat you're talking about but when talking about a scoped gun, does it matter?

Some rifles have a Monte Carlo stock. It has a raised check rest on the correct side of the rifle. It can be helpful. It won’t help if you shoot from the wrong side.
Plenty of lefty rifles available. Get her started off correctly.

My favorite deer rifle was a lefty Rem M700 that I bought for myself as a kid in the 90s. Saved for years for that rifle. She will appreciate you getting a left handed rifle for her, and there are more than enough options out there to make it happen.

I think it's easier to learn the right way, which is using you dominant eye? Seems like it would be awkward shooting a non scoped weapon with one hand and a scoped weapon with other.

I found an old Savage that was a lefty bolt action 30-06. I couldn't the money out of my wallet fast enough. Only problem is that when I pass it on to my son it won't work well for him.

I'm right handed, left eye dominate and shoot lefty. I shoot a left handed tikka in .308 and love it.

Ruger makes a LH American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. $385.

I'll never own another RH gun if I can avoid it.

You could just buy a Tompson in whatever caliber you want. You can shoot it left and right handed.

Like everyone said, learn to shoot right handed. It’s best in the end.

No it isn’t. I’m left handed and have always shot right handed rifles and shotguns

Left handed? Just because you're left handed doesn't mean you're left eye dominant. I'm right handed, but left eye dominant and shoot off my left shoulder (using right handed guns). Ask her to blink; if she closes her left eye, then most likely she's right eye dominant, visa versa. There are other ways to tell eye dominance, but his is an easy method.

I'm right handed but shoot left due to eye dominance , never had a problem with a rifle.

Shotguns can have issues when the action is in your face, but all of mine are right handed.

Get a bolt action

Which is her dominant eye? I would buy a gun for that

THIS^^^ is the question that needs to be answered.

THat's not what anyone said, and it's absolutely the worst idea. It doesn't matter what hand you use, eye dominance is much more important. My kid's right handed and left eye dominant. He shoots left handed.

That’s your opinion. People shoot right hand/left eye dominate all the time and are successful at it. There’s no golden rule. If you start shooting that way early enough youll become accustomed to it. If you want to hinder yourself to a select few guns then carry on...

Yes I had that very same thought as a drawback.

I'm a lefty, but I'm right eye dominant. Best suggestion for you would be to figure out which eye is dominant. After that let her shoot with that eye, unless it's too uncomfortable for her. At that point just shoot left handed with regular non-lefty rifles.

I don't think I've ever shot a left handed bolt action and I shoot primarily left handed with rifles. Like I saw another person on here say, I don't know what I'd do if I had a left handed bolt action to work, it would probably feel rather uncomfortable to use lol

ETA: I've never shot right handed with a rifle, only pistols and shotguns. Just always feels more natural with the left hand. Never had any issue doing so, always did fine in competition shooting with the non-dominant eye with open sights at 100yards
Oh, and welcome to the odd world of a left hander. archery - right hand, pistol - primary left, rifle - left, shotgun - left.
She'll learn to be ambidextrous just because 99% of shite is made for right handers, might as well get used to it now

Not really just my opinion, but OK. Hinder yourself to a select few guns? WTF are you talking about?

Whatever. My only experience with it is teaching my son how to shoot. He was struggling with eye dominance. Everybody I talked to said let him shoot left handed. Made sense. His struggles ended when I put the rifle on his left shoulder. Much easier then trying to correct his eye dominance.
