Drove from Houston to liberty, MS last night for my second (and last hunt of the season) and it’s raining buckets. Was planning on hunting my ladder stands bc I never got a chance to clean out the boxes but I may have to fight wasps this afternoon to stay dry.

Looking like it’ll be clear tomorrow and sat luckily.

Any reports on the rut in these parts? My favorite week to hunt is week after Xmas and first week of the new year but not sure how much this weather will screw em up

We're in Marion County, due East of you. I had a lot of movement and a few good bucks last Friday after that torrential downpour all day Thursday. But, honestly, I'm expecting this weekend to be the best for us. The bucks started to chase, but they haven't been really aggressive for us--due to weather, heat, moon, etc.?

It's supposed to clear up late tonight then the temperature is going to start dropping through the day tomorrow. Heading up tonight to get the weekend started with a morning hunt.

We'll see.

Good luck!

i hunt up the rd on boggu chitto. Been hunting every day. Zero rut/chasing. It will be another week or 2 like always.I killed a nice 9pt cmas weekend, neck was swole, glands dark. But he wasnt chasing. As of last weekend had a 6 and 7pt still running together.I have seen mature doe every day this past week with no chasing, and have seen solo younger bucks. The younger bucks are up kinda cruising, but no rut

I shot a small 8 during bow season so I’m not hard up for meat (my wife won’t eat it so one is normally enough). just looking forward to relaxing on the stand and drinking a shite ton of beer.

They should be chasing here now or reeealll soon. I hunt a lot of open pasture/fence lines so I can use catch them cruising from a pretty good distance. It’s a lot easier late season than bow hunting here just due to the sheer distance you can see. Not a lot of thick stuff (dad runs cattle here)

I’m 14 miles north of Liberty. My son killed an 8 point Tuesday evening chasing a doe. It is raining it’s butt off in north Amite county and will continue until tonight. Don’t venture off road in a pickup truck. The ground is like soft ice cream.

Some of the pastures looks like lakes right now. I’ll be walking or grab the sXs if I need it. I’ve had my cameras out since mid Oct, interested to see what’s been walking around. Been seeing a ton of coyotes and foxes this year which is a bit unusual. Have a black coyote hanging around the house, might put out the predator call/decoy tonight and see if I can’t pop him

The creek behind the house is out the banks. I saw several deer this morning on Hwy 48 ,near the 3 bridges, while on the way home from work. Oughta be a good weekend once all this clears out.

We hunt in Poplarville and I can tell you they're rutting pretty hard right now. We've found 3-4 bucks dead from fighting. Lots of movement, especially in evenings.

Texas definite rut activity in Liberty. Hunt off of 48. Shot an 8 Saturday that was pushing a doe.

Sitting in a pop up right now staying relatively dry hoping to see something. Wouldn’t normally be in this stand except for the damn rain

Doubtful. I enjoy the area, but I'm not from around there.

You know Frog? He is one of our neighbors that seems to know everyone.
