or a house in Lake Ramsay

My dad's Uncle Wille built that lake and ran it as a campground for years; we used to pull some really nice sized bass from that lake just fishing along the road. I haven't been back there since it's become a subdivision. Are the houses nice?

Has anyone said Lake Verret yet?

My cousins have a camp there and it is great for skiing and catfish and ok for green trout and perch. It's about two hours away.

Houses are nice and still have monster bass and sacs in there.

Does it have to be a freshwater lake? I know alot of people who have lake houses on different parts of Calcasieu Lake (Big Lake). I love it out there.

I've had a camp at old river in our family forever but I'd vote against it. Last year we couldn't get to it between April and August because of the high water. This year is worse. The fishing is amazing if you hit it right and its very wide with little traffic for water sports.

That lake used to be loaded with ducks in the late winter. The dos gris and blackjacks used to raft up by the thousands. There were also quite a few "good" ducks on the lake. We never hunted them, though. When Uncle Willie died in the mid-70's we lost access to the lake as the family had to sell the property to settle his estate.

Lived there for several years. Nice lake but very very very very crowded. Also, a pure water sports and leisure boating lake. The fishing sucks for the most part.

If you get a chance, go duck hunting out there. Hilarious to watch uppity million dollar home owners get their panties in a wad while you do something completely legal.

If you do like to fish, find your quickest route to the Yadkin river lakes. Tuckertown and Badin especially.

I'd look into Old River in Batchelor

We've had a lot there. Problem is the rise of the water can keep you out of a spot. A little more difficult to fish at times, but if you know what you are doing the fishing can be really great.

Hemphill, Texas. More than 2-3 hours but right between Toledo and Rayburn. Fish always biting on one of them.
