Posted by jordan21210 Nah I was talking about getting to Mardi Gras from Falgout Canal. What he said was spot on, from what I've been told, the trickiest part is running through Raccourci because it's so shallow.
follow the poles and/or crab traps. Running the bayou bt raccourci n mechant is the trickiest IMO.. Ran ground a few times n hit a few reefs over the years
I get to mechant through eagle lake n lake Paige a lot. Question, why not just put in at jugs?

Whats the deal with the Champions these days? I heard they were bought out or something along those lines maybe?? The yella one that I asked about seemed to be a new style hull compared to the ones a few years ago. Any comments?

Ah, the tell tale sign of a safe channel to travel (for the most part)

Have to do that when running through Jug Lake too...you can get yourself into a lot of trouble during the Winter in Dularge. Every single one of the lakes in the area seems to not hold more than 4ft of water at high tide (with the exception of Decade)

@bourgstheword

Definitely, so far I know of 3 or 4 good redfish holes and then Decade for Winter Speck fishing. As far as Summer speck fishing, still gotta figure that one out. New boat sounds fine as hell, thing is gonna haul some arse too

Bought out and no longer making them as far as I know.

My Dads is 3 yrs old maybe 4 and was newer than the yellow one. Both are 24's and as far as I know the only real difference was color and the yellow one had a single 300. I fished in it once and that boat was fast. He ran it hard.

No doubt I just wish our area produced bigger fish. I did get to fish a private lease South of falgout(upper end of dear bayou) a few years ago and caught some of the biggest trout Ive ever caught including one 5 lbs and it was a miserable day to fish.

I love pulling up to the Island and walking around with a cold brew on a later summer afternoon. About as relaxing as you can get. Cant wait!

Last summer produced bigger fish than a lot of people have seen in the last few years. We caught some studs as soon as the 2 month long wind storm died down. Hopefully it stays like that.

You fish there often? What kind of boat?

My dad is a very well respected trout fishermen by the locals. Back in the 90's they did a write up in the sportsman about our area and the locals told the reporter to call my dad for info....i think he provided too much information.

Yeh that guy has a camp just down the canal from ours. He just replaced it about 4 months ago with another champion with twin 175's.
