I’ll be trying out the fishing there tomorrow for the first time.

Falgoust canal is where we will put in.

From what I’m told just slow troll the lake for trout and bass are in the canals?

If anyone has any tips/tricks areas that they are willing to share I would greatly appreciate.

Look for deep holes along the edges of the lake. The lake overall is shallow but watch your depth finder and you can find some of them.

Also you can catch trout in those canals as well as redfish along with bass.

I’m thinking about going to Lake Decade on Monday. Please post a report of your trip. TIA

Will do. Stay tuned.

I’m looking at a NE wind so I am thinking about starting at the point that juts into the lake and letting the boat drift across naturally.
I will be all artificial tomorrow. Popping corks and plastics.
Spinnerbaits off the bank in the canals and plastics in the reeds is what I was told.

Just drift across the lake. You actually want a wind to make it a lil choppy. Use a swim bait and let it get near the bottom with a steady retrieve.

My daddy has a camp in fisherman’s retreat, he fishes dacade a good bit. Believe he fishes the deeper holes as previous poster suggested. Good luck.

Hearing of some really good bass fishing stories from the area.

It was a tough day. 3 bass. 1 cat.

Couldn’t find a speck or red. Water was smooth.
I can’t explain it. Water was moving. Tides were good. Wind was low.

The same thing happened to me on my last three trips to Lake Decade (Dec. and Jan.) I never saw more than 2 boats fishing in the lake on those trips. I've been hoping the lake turns on. It might if we get another freeze. Thanks for the report. You've made me decide not to stop in Decade. I will try Mechant and Lost Lake.

Growing up Decade was a freshwater lake but as erosion progressed trout moved in during winter. With the new levees going up the lake is becoming more fresh. Trout haven’t been really thick in there for a few years. Crabbing on the damns to the north side of the lake can be pretty good though

I had a couple good trips in there in November and December. First time in a few years that I have productive trips to decade.

I couldn't get away in November and most of December. I missed out, apparently. Congrats on the catches.

This.

Decade was always a good late fall area. We'd always fish it during LSU Football season.

At it's high salt levels during Thanksgiving holidays you could walk across the lake by jumping from boat to boat.
Most of the bass caught in that area is in the marsh

Yep. About 6 years ago, I counted over 70 boats nailing the specs in Decade. Those days are gone.
