Janky, did you make it to Lake Martin, or did you go to henderson? I think i remember Pillage telling me you may have been going to Henderson sunday.
I didn't end up going at all. I wasn't feeling well Saturday afternoon and slept most of Sunday. My son also had a bad night Saturday.

When yall launch at bayou benoit, do yall fish lake dauterive? Or yall stick to the bayou?
I never cross the levee. I always stay on the bayou side but fish various areas.

On google earth, looks like it has some flooded trees noth east of the lauch, just off the bayou. I kinda wanna go check it out.
Also, what is yalls opinion on the fish seeing the braided line causing less bites?

Should be good to go now, setting the frick outta some hooks.
They'll be flying in the boat now. Like them dinks we were flippin in the boat yesterday.
I only use 50 and 65 lbs braid for certain bass rigs. I use 15 lbs braid for bream rods. Some people find that weird. But them bluegills get wings when I'm bream fishing.

All that is pretty shallow.

In South LA waters they can't see shite. Hell, when we got a guide to crappie fish on Toledo Bend we were using 30# pp on the spinning reels.

Like Pillage said, ima be flipping those henderson hogs in the boat

Not that big of a problem down here. Most of the water we fish is murky and full of vegetation. That helps camouflage the line. Fishing clearer open water might make it an issue. I don't know about you, but I don't come across those conditions in south La. often.

Thats what i was thinking. Itd have to be some clear arse water with no grass to see that shite. And there aint any of that where ill be.

I'm a fan of fluorocarbon line. I know some people hate it, but I find it has some advantages over mono for certain applications. I use 16 lbs Sunline Super FC Sniper on my TX rig. 10 and 12 lbs Seagur InvizX on my crankbait rods.
I use 12 lbs Trilene XL mono for topwater, and 14 lbs for spinnerbait/buzzbait.
50 lbs Power Pro for jigs and Carolina rigs. 65 lbs for punching and frogs.

Im gonna see how the braid goes with my texas rig. Its what i fish with most, even though i have a tough time setting the hook sometimes (which is why im going to braid).
What made you choose specific lines for specific lures? Trial and error?

That and lots of research.
They all have their place. You could use one line for everything and itll work just fine. But I like to think of it as "fine tuning". Same thing with certain types of rods and reels for certain applications.

Gottcha.
Ive never fished with fluro but was just reading that it has less stretch than mono. I feel like the stretch is part of the reason im having trouble setting the hook, along with too much slack. Sounds like i need a fourth rod n reel to see if i prefer fluro or braid for texas rig....

That's actually a common misconception. Fluoro stretches just as much, if not more than mono. The biggest difference is that fluorocarbon doesn't stretch as fast and requires more force to stretch. It's a denser line. So it less buoyant and more sensitive than mono. Science, bitch!

Fine! But but fluro sinks! Mono and braid doesnt!!!
Science n stuff, too!

Fluoro sinking is a welcomed characteristic sometimes.
