I'm going out to Henderson Sunday. Homey is tagging along. I haven't been in months, so I have no idea what to expect. We'll see if we can get on a few.

I was thinking about henderson. I don't want to go back to Benoit. Y'all launch under the interstate or private? I was also thinking about Martin with this cooler weather. I kinda want fish some grass.

Buddy of mine caught a few in Lake Martin a few weeks ago. Just stayed throwing at the trees using soft plastics.

As far as Sunday goes, I haven't bass fished in over a month, so hopefully we have some good luck

And Uncle Jack D, I'm still waiting on some pins for those reds

I usually launch at Kern's. That public launch can be a mess sometimes.

Lake Martin doesn't sound to bad right now. But I need to run my boat. It's been sitting up too long and I need to burn the gas out of the starboard tank.

So, you guys don't think I would be completely wasting time at Martin?

I saw some pics of some fish caught out there on spinnerbaits and buzzbaits over grass a couple of weeks ago.

I wouldn't think itd be a waste. If the buddy of mine went alone and caught three, then you can definitely go and not zero. Hes about as good a bass fisherman as I am

Do you run under the interstate from there? I've never launched there but was looking at it this past week.

Sure do. They dug a passage from the pit to the canal that runs parallel to I-10 a long time ago. It's safe to pass as long as the water isn't too low.

Well, me and Homey didn't do too bad in Henderson yesterday. Water was high and muddy everywhere. So we fished the only clean water around, thanks to a good tip. We weren't gonna win any tournaments with the size fish we were catching, but we caught.

Unfortunately I noticed my water pump is starting to go out. So now I gotta bring the boat in.

if you don't mind me asking....what did you catch them on? I have shite luck for bass in henderson. I've fished cranks, spinners, rattle traps, brush hogs, sinkos, flukes. never caught more than 2 or 3 on a trip.

Tried all kinds of stuff. Topwater, chatterbait, crankbait, jerkbait.... The only thing they would touch is a watermelon senko.

I got a bunch of gopro footage that I need to go through. Gonna try to do that sometime this week. A couple of funny moments on there. Homey caught one fish, and while he was reeling it up, the senko was kind of hanging outside of the fish's mouth, another (bigger) bass tried to get the senko. The bigger fish had the entire head of the smaller fish in his mouth. He got off before we could get both in the boat. But that was a first for me to see.

I have similar luck with bass in Henderson. I usually only catch two or three each trip. And to be honest, I think I only caught 3 of these . Just gotta keep moving around until you find em.

Set you up a Texas or Carolina rig, a top water, and a crankbait, and just throw the shite outta each at each spot you fish. Sometimes you have to really work for them out there.

That's my piece of advice, for what its worth. But I'm not a very good bass fisherman

ETA: If not for a tip from a friend, we may have only caught a few yesterday if any. So when you see people post pics like this, don't let it discourage you. There were probably ten trips before where they didn't catch shite, but you don't see pics of that. I promise you that, for me, that was the case in this trip. I've never caught more than 4 or 5 there.

That's what happens when you can't set the hook and the person in the front of the boat is pulling em in one after the other.

I'm putting braid on at least one of my reels today

Don't forget to tighten down your drag, too. That may help.

Janky, Think I'm gonna keep mono on one for a crank bait at least until I can learn to chunk that braid like I can with mono.

That braid is so damn expensive...

And Pillage, yeah, that too
