I want to learn henderson better, but ive been going all over looking for bass every where except henderson. I guess its time to go back. If i cant find the bass, i can always bream fish
Ill probably have my uncle show me a few spots one of these days.
Is the water starting to go down, or do we have a while to go before that happens?

Looks like the river is stabilizing. Probably a couple more weeks before it starts coming down.

this is the link I use to Lake Pelba...it is at the Atchafalaya Welcome Center launch under I-10 at exit 121...
normal pool stage is 9'-10'...it is currently at 17.55'...
probably the highest it's been in several years...
it should start dropping soon unless some more major rain events move in...

Lafayette Area Fishing (Public Launches, Bayous, and Lakes) Heck, I really want to make a trip to Henderson. Even with the high water a friend of mine has been catching his limit almost every day. Crankbaits and A-rigs. I know almost all of his spots too!
Let me know when.

I just want to fish. I have had this boat for two months and fished 5 times and haven't had a "good" trip yet.

I bought mine in march, and didnt have a decent trip until last weekend.
I had a great day today, but it wasnt in my boat
If you guys get on em, lemme know. Id love any advice for the area. Ive put my boat in there about 5 times, and got a total of one bass in the boat, and it wasnt me who caught it

I've only been to Henderson twice this year. First time I caught 1 fish and it was tiny. The second time I brought my 3 year old son with me and I caught about a half dozen in the couple hours we went out. That was a great trip not just because I caught a few fish. Went to Lake Martin in February in my kayak and caught one tiny fish.
Fished a club tournament with a friend of mine at Millers in early March. Only caught 3 fish, but one was nearly 6 lbs. So that was a good trip even though we didn't catch a lot. Came out 2nd and won big bass.
We fished a tourney in Toledo a couple weeks later and didn't do so hot. But I caught one 4 and a quarter, so it wasn't a total bust.
Fished Toledo Bend with my dad and his friend in early April and had a good trip. Struggled at times, but we eventually got on some.
Then the last fishing trip I made was to Little Alabama in my kayak. That was a fun trip. Didn't catch anything big, but I was at least putting some in the boat.
So as you can tell, I've had some good fishing trips, but not really around here.

I hate you
See that list above? That every trip I've made so far this year. That's it! This job and family thing is getting in the way of my fishing career.

well im not married, and have no kids, and most of those trips were possible bc my gf likes to fish w me, so i get to have bf/gf time while on the boat. plus i get usually one trip a weekend without her for a few hours. Ill admit, i have it made.

Lol I ain't even mad. Enjoy it while you can. I want to get my son used to going out on the boat. He's still young, but a few years down the road I think I'll be able to get away with going more often if I bring him.

Any of you like to give recommendations on a back up baitcaster rod and reel combo? im talking in the $50 to $75 range. Id prefer closer to the $50 end of that range. Or should i just spend $100 and get the same as i have for my primary rod and reel?
Posted on 5/30/17 at 2:28 pm to Homey the Clown
Lew's American Hero combo. I think it goes for around $80. I have a few of the AH rods and they are pretty darn good. The reel doesn't seem too bad either.
You also can't go wrong with a Black Max or Sliver Max combo.

i have a promax right now and i love it, and i just saw on academys website that they are on sale for $75. if the academy here doesnt have em in stock ill take a look at the lews. are the silver and black max as good as the promax? i know they were a little cheaper...
Posted on 5/30/17 at 2:59 pm to Homey the Clown
Not quite the build quality of the promax, but they'll get the job done. Keep em clean and mainataibed and they'll last a good while. I have a silver max reel that's about 15 years old and still going strong. I have a Pro Max paired with a 7'6" heavy Duckett and use it for football jigs and A-rigs. It has been fantastic for the price.

^^^ I don't know why but I always forget about the Mettle. Them things are bulletproof. And they have a lifetime warranty. That would be a solid choice.

I use mettles for my saltwater fishing.
