Seems like more than him just falling out and drowning.

Lake decade certainly gets sporty. Trout fishing last winter was great. Would not recommend a Saturday or Sunday though. Literally hundreds of boats.

Doesn’t mean he couldn’t fall out and knock himself out

lol most of those guys run in Newport 300’s and their kayaks run around 6-6.5 mph. Go run that fast in a loaded kayak and hit a submerged tree that stops you instantly and see it you stay in. You’ll run slower once it happens once.

We fished out of 6 mile Wednesday and noticed a lot of kayak trailers at the launch. Saw several out on the lake and some way out and the wind kicked up a bit mid-morning. Then the front passed though later on in the afternoon. Must have got caught in it.

This young man was from the neighboring county to us and was a friend/schoolmate of my nephew
Such a tragedy.

Had a storm catch us by surprise and we had to run directly into it a bit to get to safety.
Dang near sunk a 20’ skeeter. When we pulled up to bank bottom/ back of the boat was full of water and we were only a few inches above water

Ive taken a wave over the bow of my 24' bay boat in toledo bend before. It gets damn nasty. A stiff north wind has a 60 mile running start by the time it hits the south end.

Was going to say the same thing, only been once and the weather turned on us out there. We were in a 17’ skeeter and were taking water over the bow. Luckily we were able to get the bank but took about 10 minutes. Scariest boating situation I’ve been in.

This is beyond sad indeed but is it ignorant to think given the water temps right now and assuming he would be wearing or at least carrying a lifejacket of some sort. Is it easier to drown than I always assumed?

I can swim but very average at best. Hard for me to imagine especially with Lake at 168', should be a bunch of timber out the water to potentially hold onto. Reading these stories are beyond tragic.
