werent nearly as stable as my ascend. I tried to stand it and It wasnt going to happen.

I don't think you gave it a far shot if you couldn't stand up in a hobie, but could in an ascend. An outback is very easy to stand in, a pro angler is made for standing, but the revolution is the only one i see giving a larger person trouble, but it also is not hard to stand in.

without the mirrage drive I feel like it is a slower yak

true for all except the revolution.

the rudder system didnt work at for shite.

Must have been in poor condition. I will never buy another kayak without a rudder. It helps tremendously when fishing and keeping a path. Don't have to keep putting down the rod then picking up the paddle to get you back in position. In a hobie you are at a disadvantage if paddling (not peddling) and using the rudder, because on the hobie you have to use your hand to move the rudder. Most people lift it up when paddling. Using the peddles is when you use the rudder. On other yaks you use your feet to move the rudder which keeps you free to use both hands to paddle.

There is a difference in getting wet and getting soaked
In the gulf you get soaked in all yaks. You shouldn't get soaked in the marsh in a hobie.

I'm having a bit of buyers remorse about getting such a delicate board. A soft-top (neoprene topped paddleboard) or a YOLOyak would have been infinitely easier to deal with. Mine'll nick or scratch with the slightest run in with the paddle or boat floor. I'm having a custom bag made for it, but at over $300 it's starting to add up to two nice stand-up yaks or soft-tops (OK, three). Oh well.

not sure what model you tried to stand in, must have been the 1982 plywood hobie because those things are the most stable kayaks next to malibu fish and dives and native's IMO

not sure you understand the point of a hobie, it is for the mirage drive, again I will say it is for hands free paddling for more fishing.. of course you can out paddle one without it's peddle system...

You can disagree with my opinions, but they are not uninformed nor are they ridiculous

they are your opinions but i feel the opinions and the reviews you are spreading are about an old bad model of hobie, if you sat in the new pro angler, or outback you would change your mind

i feel you're trying to convince me the sky isn't blue

My intention isn't to sway anyone to any particular kayak or convince them of anything. If you or anyone else choose not to belive me, thats fine. It makes no difference to me if this guy buys a hobie or any other brand kayak. I gave my opinion of the newest model hobie revolution. It was purchased from massey outfitters 3 weeks ago. I would not have paid 500 for it much less the $1800 they cost.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and they all stink.

To the OP, good luck with you purchase.

But I bet it looks pretty when you hang it on the wall.

It is a very cool looking board.
