I saw the post on the 33' Freeman that hit the well this week. Got me thinking, I live in SC now, and the national coverage on the state of the coastal waters in La. post Deepwater Horizon is gone. Is the oil gone? Is it like it used to be, or is it all shitted up? What say you?

Fishing is better this year than it has ever been! Specks... red snapper it is on! Amazing what can happen when the shrimpers aren't allowed to kill all the fish for one year.

Forget about the oil it isn't of any concern to fisherman anymore. The oil is mostly all gone, they were cleaning up oil on one of the beaches (Elmers Island) but that is finished and it wasn't from last year anyway. Forget about the oil it is a memory for the most part although the tree huggers will find tarballs etc and still raise cane like oil is all over the place.

it is better than ever, IMO...basically no fishing at all for a year, so the fishing is excellent...the bad press has the crowds still down some....no oil to be seen....

it is like paradise that you have all to yourself...come down and check it out before the word gets out...

bullshite DUDE! A lot of that oil is sitting on the Gulf of Mexico bottom! It will be there for years to come. Add that it will make its way thru the food chain. Only time will tell how much damage is done. I'm no tree hugger but just a fisherman that has been fishing the Gulf of Mexico for well over 30 years.

You know the old saying," out of sight, out of mine" Its still there!

It's "out of sight, out of mind". And the whole oil spill thing was blown completely out of proportion. I'm from LA and know it was bad, not saying it wasn't, but people tried to use it for political gain. And yes they should've been able to cap it way faster than they did, but there's a difference in oil spilling out in deep water into the ocean than in a channel in Alaska where it has nowhere to go but land. Let's be real here, it could've been a hell of a lot worse.
