We had three drake redheads locked up fixing to land in the docoys. We unloaded and no birds died. I'm kinda ashamed to say that but it happens. Jjj is a good shot and I'm decent. Well, seconds after we unloaded the ducks land just outside our decoys (in shooting range). I don't have any shells on me and telling jjj to give me shells but he didn't. He loads A shell and kills a duck. He loads A second shell and kills a duck. He loads A third shell and kills the last duck. Ducks never flared or tried to fly off after we unloaded our original six or after he was picking them off one at time. I know these divers are dumb but never seen anything quite like that duck hunting. Y'all guys have any similar stories?

Nothing like that. But we sunk the ranger 4 times this weekend. 2 with nothing to winch to.

Redheads arent smart. Ive snuck up on them while going out to get dead ducks and they will land in deeks.

I stated they're not smart but you understand how dumb they were if you were with us.

I prefer the freckled type. I wasn't that lucky this am.

I've had grey ducks on multiple occasions re-lite after shooting once on the water. I was the only person hunting though. They would land, I would shoot one and they fly about 10 ft and lite again. Pretty strange.

Who in their right mind goes diggin through their buddies shell bag to give hime shells when ducks are on the water 30' away

I think we crippled one cause he went down funny. Then the other two followed suit. I just wanted to finish the cripples

My dog was half way to them when i shot the third. How those birds made it to the last day of season is beyond me

Had a strange experience this am too. Hunting as a guest and a group of 8 shoveers comes in. Host hollars take em when they are too far out and rings out the first shot so I followed suit. Six shots and only a drake and a hen fall. Sent my dog on the hen which was still alive and she tracked it down after a bit and brings it back to the bank halfway between us and drops it In the grass. She is usually reluctant to let go of a live bird and the bird looked dead during the retrieve. So it was left the there while we finished the hunt. 45 min later the damn thing comes back to life runs right down the bank between us then makes a hard right and takes to the air. 5 more shots ring out and that sucker got away. We were both laughing at ourselves and that dang lucky hen 30 min later.
