I'm sure the shooter would gladly share the extra duck with his buddy (even though he wouldn't share his shells) should Green Jeans tap on his shoulder.

The last hunt I made we had 2 pintails come in a drake and a hen. I shot the drake and the hen was shot by a buddy of mine. 25' up head shot that helicoptered the whole way down, you could see the blood in the water. The drake landed in the channel and with a falling tide and north wind it was moving out quickly. We cranked up the boat to go get the drake first. When we left, the hen was feet up head under water, not kicking. We're gone maybe 2 minutes, when we came back they had some geese starting to get up off the sandbar so I unloaded my 3" and was putting in 3.5". We get 5' from the hen and she pops her head up and flies off.
My buddy went to Arkansas and showed me a video of when they were picking up ducks from the feild, one of the other guys went to throw him a duck and when it was in the air took off flying.

I don't shoot ducks on the water. I will shout or bang the boat with a paddle to get them up first. Just an ethical thing for me.

If you can get them to light in decoys, it shouldn't be frowned upon. I just don't have a high rate of return with the on the water shots.
My question to the OP, why was JJJ holding your shells for you?

That is another reason I don't shoot ducks on the water. Unless it is a close shot, It usually is not a clean kill since their breast is not exposed. I hate losing cripples!

I yelled and my dog junped in the water. They werent getting up.
Pretty sure dss clipped one. I was just doing the ethical thing and removing it from a lifetime of suffering

I don't have a clue why I didn't have shells on me. Mine were in the boat and he was close to gun box.
