That's the very reason I don't have them in my garage

I’d take the opportunity to get rid of all them ring necks and boot lips that have been in there For 3 years. Get rid of the GFCi. Whil you’re at it get rid of the damned arc fault breakers also.

Had the freezer control go out from a T-storm while I was away from the house working out of town for a month.
Knew it was bad before I even opened the front door. And the freezer was under a year old too.
Took about 3 weeks to get the smell out. Since I live out in the middle of nowhere i threw all the rotted stuff in the back of the backyard at the edge of the woods. It's how I found out there's some things even a vulture won't eat, ants too.
Gawd, a shiver just went through me remembering frozen bass and catfish and crappie that had thawed and rotted for a month. Semi solid goop of multiple colors that when moved induced tremendous gag reflex.

I’ve haven’t done a google search but I’ve often thought about an outlet alarm. Something that would alert you if outlet went out on freezer.
But then again, if the power went out in the middle of the night. You would have to turn it off.

Opened this thread thinking I was going to be expressing sympathies for your firearms lost in a boating accident but this is pretty sad too

Man this happened to me when I still lived in Baton Rouge. Lost no telling how many pound of deer sausage, redfish, trout, bass and sac-a-lait.
I'll never forget the smell.
I'm one of those fisherman that claims waste not, want not. I hate the idea of me taking those fish and not making use of it, so now I just don't keep as much. I have a small area of a small freezer and I keep no more than that.

quote:Ive got about 10 lbs of mixed pork and deer meat ground, and a few packs of sausage if you want it. I know you aren't asking, but I have extra this year, and on top of buying a half cow I would be happy to share.
The pride we have as ethical hunters in providing for our family with meat that we have spent in hours and hours and taken ourselves, hurts just as bad to see it go to waste! FML this sucks

We had everything go bad twice in less than two years, when my 89 year old dad, who has had a stoke w/some dementia, left the upright freezer door open. We moved the freezer from a storeroom to the back porch so we can check the door nightly before bed.

Man that’s very kind of you but you don’t have to do that. I really appreciate it though
