I’ve been keeping up with Rick Hall’s daily kill report from his Cherry Ridge blind. The squealers keep the clients busy some days.

Same stand as this morning with the youngest stepson. Deer been on camera here all day since we left with the doe.
Walked in a 3.

Hopefully I can put him on his first deer ever.

Tangipahoa Parish
Lock-on
70, calm
7mm mag

First hunt in two years.
Despite the warmer temp, it feels good…like home.

Seriously under the weather, so skipped the early morning hunt. Too bad, there was still some frost visible from the lodge.

Harvested camera cards yesterday and went through them this morning. Bucks still hanging out together, just not at the blind I picked this afternoon. Pretty warm, but we had a ton of movement when nighttime lows were in the mid-70’s.

I'm getting more and more tempted to leave the big rifle at the camp and bring the .22 to the deer stand. Squirrels and rabbits to be had.

Bring your thermal scope and harvest some coons for us. We even have a dog you can take to keep it legal

Had a little family of does (3 generations) come out at dusk. I’ve always tried to leave the one that are good breeders, especially if she’s still lactating. I’ll have too many chances to put one down, and she is a really young momma (small).

Ended in Gueydan with a Mallard and Blackjack. Both killed with about 10 minutes left in legal shooting time. Worked some mallards but were skittish as always. As we left had 100s of birds (mostly blackjack) pilling into the pond.
