Hardwoods stand between pine thicket and pond. I can see my house from here. Haha. 450 bushmaster Henry single shot.
My son is along the creek on the other side of our property. Looking for a buck for him. Does only for me.

Summit climber, same tree I have now killed 5 from in the last 7 hunts

Doe came by, I shot. She ran off. I thought for sure she should have dropped, so I assumed that I hit something between us or whatever and reloaded.

I hear something coming from the direction she ran, I'm thinking she's back, but nope, small buck. So I shoot him, see where he falls. Get down, drag him over to my stuff, and figure I might as well look for the doe. Didn't take 5 minutes, found her. All gutted and loaded before 11. All cleaned and on ice before 5. Long but meat-filled day.

The best part is now I can focus the entire gun season on getting the 13 year old his first.
