Ouachita Parish

I was bright and early at D'Arbonne NWR in Ouachita Parish.
Started in a tree between a bayou and a lake with huge acorns falling everywhere. Didn't see anything by 9:30, and I didn't like how open it was, so I decided to switch locations and also scout for Thursday.

I set up in a thick area on D'Arbonne, but there was no way to get in a tree so I ground hunted. I saw a couple of does but not in range. At 1:00, I packed up to do a little more scouting on the way out. I got 10 yards and a cruising 6-point came through and stopped 10 feet in front of me. By the time I attached the release to the bow he ran off.

Talk about an adrenaline rush. I'll add that spot to my list.

TX5 saddle
Hoyt Torrex with 200gr Samurai heads

Hunting edge of creek bottom and thick CRP next to cut corn.

Been here a few days. Surprisingly slow. I missed a good buck last night. Misjudged the distance. He came in behind me and I hadn’t ranged points back there. Shot right over his back as I thought he was closer to 40, but he was really at 30. Super frustrating but I have till Saturday to redeem myself.

Good luck boys
