Is Prien lake a good kayak spot for trout this time of year?

I have to go there for work next week and thinking of bringing the kayak to catch some trout.
I was thinking they would be moving in, but I don’t know the area.

Never actually fished that far north but generally it’s gets pretty good Fall-Spring. Especially with the salinity as high as it’s been this year.

You can catch reds and trout there right now, if i had to guess.

Yes. Birds have been working any day the wind lays down. Lake Charles too.

There's a couple of areas to launch a Kayak at the I-210 Bridge. There's one on the main lake to the left as soon as you enter the old beach area by the pier. If you go under the bridge, there is an old boat launch some people still use and a Kayak designated spot back towards the camps/SW LA Fishing Club place. This area is sheltered from south winds while the first area is sheltered more for north winds.
Good luck. This is a good time of year for specks and reds in this area. I haven't fished this area in a while but grew up fishing there.

There is a round-a-bout just south of I-210, take the exit going west along side of I-210. Go under the interstate and there is a beach area to put in. Go due north to the Calcasieu river and fish the drop off or just a little away from the channel. You should be able to catch some specks on soft plastic baits with 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig heads.
For red fish ..... go upstream 1/4 mile and fish on the north side of the river along the rocks, about 10-15 feet from the rocks. Any closer to the rocks and you will get hung up.

Let me put you on game at big lake for this time of year After the next cold front and on the morning of a falling tide . Launch at Hebert's and go north along the east bank until you hit the first running slugh. Stay about 50 yds off the bank. When your about 100 ft from mouth of slugh, start angling towards the point of land where bank hits mouth. Your gonna push all the bait out into the slugh and when you do be ready. The trout are gonna turn on like salmon jumping up a water fall as they bust that bait to hell and back. Your only gonna get about 5 cast in until they shut back down but it's probably gonna be the 5 biggest trout you have ever caught. Biggest I've pulled out of there was a 7lb but I missed some way bigger due to the small bait and setup I had tied on. I'd gobwith a top dog or big spook. I had a damn TNT shrimp under a cork and they would knock my cork and bait out the water then another trout would jump and hit my bait in mid air. Coolest thing I ever witnessed fishing besides seeing camenada pass from Elmer's beach to bridge side boiling for over 30 mins with redfish so thick, it convinced me this is how a fella might walk on water. Just saying, it looked miraculous. Same thing, reds busting bait before it could even land.
