Baws,

A buddy of mine and myself were interested in getting some info on duck leases for the 2017/18 season. Do any of you know any good areas that we can research? Also, I know that prices range based on location, blind, spot, etc, but what is a ballpark figure we should budget for?

Thanks - any help is greatly appreciated!

Where is the big question? Price varies with location in the state and then even further with marsh vs pitblind.

Price also varies according to the price of oil and the popularity of Duck Dynasty

We are both between Nola and BR so somewhere not more than 2-3 hours out. I would prefer pitblind (non-marsh).

Yep. They were trending high as hell before DD. It drives up WMA usage and mud motor sales though.

To be perfectly honest, unless you know someone, you will not get what you pay for in terms of pit blinds. They will for the most part be crap. The good ones aren't available or you won't hear about them. I'd expect to pay 3k+ for a basic rice blind. Try more like 5k+.

Good luck.

It was definitely trending upwards but DD brought out the facepainters

In Mecca good pits start at $10K and go North from there.

We hunted a pit blind in Lake Arthur for 3500. Was pretty terrible and killed 1 duck all season. Got in a new spot this year paying $6500 for the blind. Way better looking field and so far a pretty fair teal season. Get what you pay for from what I have seen and heard.

Yep. A lot of Kennedy's stuff is 18k for a pit now. Crazy. I haven't seen a pit that's any good for less than 10k in a while in se Arkansas or ne louisiana.

But damned if prices for face paint and beard balm didn't go through the damn roof!

Didn't know that they jumped to that. I thought they were still at $15K. The sad thing is that if one actually comes available in NE LA/SE AR it usually sucks arse anyway.

Kennedys leases on 15 have gotten out of control. It's like hunting public there are so many blinds out there

Making money hand over fist out there. Someone gets out, and a new sucker is ready to jump in
