What is the story on this?

A guy that lived on HWY 51 went nuts...

over the course of a couple of weeks he shot 3 people fishing/riding in boats along hwy 51 canal.

was in 83 or 84. he either killed himself of was shot by cop.

You gave your son a valuable lesson that day.

How old was he at the time?

In addition to a lead-launcher, I've also found it handy and reassuring to keep a big can of bear mace handy as an alternative for iffy situations. It gives me an intermediate option that I can always escalate from if necessary.

At first I thought you were on the water. The reading again, I thought you were bank fishing cause that's the only reason I can think of that he ran you off the river.

If you were in a boat and 40 yards away, how did he threaten you on the river? Was it just yelling?

I ask in all curiousness.

Was this near Magnolia Bridge?

If so I know who you're talking about.

I think you handled the situation w/ great restraint and good judgment instead of allowing testosterone to dictate your actions. You got out of a potentially dangerous situation w/o bodily injury to you or your son and didn't have to deal w/ the aftermath that would've occurred if you had responded physically. Congrats.

Good point re: non-lethal weapons for self defense. Myself included, I think we frequently forget non-lethal options.

Wow. Stressful situation, though with a good life lesson to boot.

That tragic news story is a testament to how well you managed the earlier conflict. Kudos!
