Tee-Alx can walk to school from your house a few blocks away. No bridges btw your house and school. Not sure about his teachers though.

Anyhow, they called it too early yesterday. Maybe tomorrow will be necessary, but today was not.

That was me. And it happened to my cousins last year. And 8,000 other kids in Birmingham. As a superintendent, this is the worse case if the kids go to school and it ices. The worse case if they stay home is it doesnt ice and they are at home. Seem like an easy decision. That was my point

Also happened last year. Are you acting like this didnt happen? As the superintendent or leader you judge the negatives of the decision you have to make. The negative of them staying home and you being wrong is 1000x less than making them go to school if you are wrong

Imo the calls should be made early in the morning instead of the day before. The kids should have gone to school today. I didn't come into this thread with the ad hominem bullshite.

So you believe the event you are referencing could duplicate itself here, with this forecast?

Doesn't matter the call they make. Very good chance it was the "wrong" decision.

If they make the call the evening before, it's done with less knowledge than at 5 a.m. the next morning.

If they wait until 5 a.m., they're forcing parents to make last minute arrangements.

It's a No Win. And those who don't understand that, and second-guess them, probably lack experience, therefore wisdom... which is understandable.

How is that a good idea? I mean, that's just terrible any way you slice it.

Because the forecast was wrong? The superintendent should have said, I know there's a winter storm advisory beginning at 6 a.m., but I'll get up at 5 and get all the advisories out then while people are getting ready?
