Tee-Alx can walk to school from your house a few blocks away. No bridges btw your house and school. Not sure about his teachers though.
Anyhow, they called it too early yesterday. Maybe tomorrow will be necessary, but today was not.

quote:That was me. And it happened to my cousins last year. And 8,000 other kids in Birmingham. As a superintendent, this is the worse case if the kids go to school and it ices. The worse case if they stay home is it doesnt ice and they are at home. Seem like an easy decision. That was my point

Imo the calls should be made early in the morning instead of the day before. The kids should have gone to school today. I didn't come into this thread with the ad hominem bullshite.

No shite. I am legit referencing an event that happened only a year ago in the deep south as well

Doesn't matter the call they make. Very good chance it was the "wrong" decision.
If they make the call the evening before, it's done with less knowledge than at 5 a.m. the next morning.
If they wait until 5 a.m., they're forcing parents to make last minute arrangements.
It's a No Win. And those who don't understand that, and second-guess them, probably lack experience, therefore wisdom... which is understandable.

quote:Because the forecast was wrong? The superintendent should have said, I know there's a winter storm advisory beginning at 6 a.m., but I'll get up at 5 and get all the advisories out then while people are getting ready?
The kids should have gone to school today.
