That's what national forests, NWR's, and WMA's are for. Not for using my money to plant trees, water control structures, other "duck habitat," etc. on some dude's private land.

So you're against restoring natural habitat to private holdings in rural America? WTF. And DU and the gubment aren't paying farmers.

HUNTERS ARE PAYING PLENTY FARMERS NOT TO HARVEST....
the reason for subsidies is too long and complicated for me to get into.
But let's just say it does affect us here when folks convert from grain crops down here to non grain crops due to changes in subsidies...
and we don't want to import more of our food than we already are - see above.

No I guess not. I'm all for tax money being spent for private landowners to have their PRIVATE PROPERTY enhanced for hunting. Then at best they get to reap the benefits of what I helped pay for or at worst they then charge people to hunt on it.

Yes. Hospitals, banks, private companies.. they all have Sportsmen within their companies and clients that they like to cater to. Private groups with interest in the hunting land

So go buy some land and put it in a WRP program. They need these areas so all the rednecks and coonasses that bait ducks on WMA's don't wax them all season long. sounds like you are jealous that you don't have land to put in programs and you want all the ducks in your WMA and NWR land.
And Fin, Im sure DU pay some farmers, but most of their money spent is in conservation tactics. Im not saying they aren't helping harbor ducks in the North, just that they aren't the biggest problem

Too funny. There is just as much gubmint cheese for the rich as for the poor. How you view it is simply a matter of whose ox is being gored. CRP/WRP tend to benenfit we hunters, so we view it differently than food stamps, but in the end, it's welfare for farmer/landowners. So are crop subsidies and crop insurance.
