i was just informed that one of the places i hunt went up for this year.

buddy received a letter and it stated the owner is going up five dollars per acre. is it me or does that sound like a massive jump for one year? i personally think the land owner just went bat shite crazy.

i will add, this land is in greensburg. certainly not prime hunting land to say the least.

is it just me or does that sound fubar?

$5 an acre isn't bad. Heard of one that jumped from $11 to $25. Really depends on how long you have had at it at that price and if you feel its worth it to pay more.

it may be but its aggravating when you are ready to pay in a couple of weeks then you get the notice. no heads up about whats going to happen.

its close to my house but not sure if its worth the price. i also hunt in mississippi, this shite is killing me.

Thing is, someone will pay that price for it. It does suck when you have no say in it at all. Pay what they want or lose it. Every land owner knows this, even the old timers.

This thread makes me miss the $2/acre days.

I think we pay right at 12 an acre for our ranch in Texas.

I know of a couple of instances in the last 5 or so years that involved leases doubling overnight.

Ours did the same but after some research I found out that it was the first increase in like 15 years and it just brought us up to the area average

What are you currently paying? The land owner might have wanted to get up to the going rate in the area.

Plum Creek went from $5.99 an acre to $6.35 an acre this year.

Our Shitty Plum creek club was 650 last year. I don't think I will get back in if it has gone up again. It's not worth it IMO
