I don't see ANY f$%king way possible you could shoot someone by accident. Unless they were behind something you were shooting and you didn't see them. But to shoot them as a primary target? Should at least be manslaughter.

Every time someone misses a deer with a rifle in the woods it is possible to shoot someone by accident. Now people have gone to using 300 magnums and crazy guns like that that can carry for miles. Rare, but it happens.

I think over 90% of gun related hunting accidents are people shooting themselves. Mistaken identity kills are really rare.

You'd know all about shooting where you don't know what your target is.

Well I swear I was told that at hunter safety class but as some many on here like to point out obviously it didn't take. Everyone, I know over last few years that was injured shoot himself or fell from a stand. Sorry I am wrong..,

Most shooting accident are someone shooting someone else.

4/66 (6%) of turkey hunting accidents which involved two parties that occurred across Canada, USA and Mexico were fatal.
101/635 (16%) of turkey hunting accidents of turkey hunting accidents which involved two parties that occurred across Canada, USA and Mexico were non fatal.
The deer hunting accidents indicate a much higher incident rate possibly due to the fact that it is a more popular game. But should still be considered a dangerous statistic since 38/66 (58%) of all fatal accidents in hunting were deer hunting accidents.

Just don't understand how things like this happen. With availability of scopes, identifying your target and proper shot placement how do you shoot a human thinking they are a four legged hairy animal?

Maybe the victim was on all 4s crawling through a thicket on hands and knees roaring each time a thorn poked him and has on a fur coat and fur ear flapped hat like them folks up north wear but even then I wouldn't accept it as legitimate mistake

I always wondered why so many of those accidents while deer hunting were chest shots? I was lurking in the shoot in the bush thread the other day. I quit hunting public property about 15 years ago out of fear of idiots!

I grew up in Nawf LA. where the sportsman from down South would come for doe days. You would'nt believe some of the stupid shite that went down during those doe days. "Sound shots" is one of the terms that I learned from a visitor. A sound shot is when you hear something in the bush and fire at the sound.

The above statement is not an attack on cajuns/coonass folks. I found it was more of an issue of big city/neighborhood guys that would travel up to the wilderness of NELA to "kill" some meat. They never said they wanted to hunt. It was always "We came up here to kill some meat" and I guess taking some sound shots is what they thought it took.

Happened on some land I used to hunt in La. Dude shot at a deer and missed and killed someone on the other side of the field.
