I will only own Colt. That is my preference.

How many people can really give an honest answer because they have owned most of these over several years with lots of rounds through each them?
I have driven less than 1k miles in both a Kia and a Corvette, but I can still tell you which one is a better performer.

BCG, barrels, LPKs, rails, and color are all more important than manufacture of the lower (if metal and not poly).

These are a few that I'm considering, in order of preference:
COLT 6940 $1350
Model LE6940 Advanced Monolithic Carbine M4 5.56mm 16.1 Inch Barrel Full Length Rail System Flip Up Rear Sight Collapsible Stock 30 Round Mag
Bravo Company USA M4 Carbine Mod 2 Semi Automatic Rifle 5.56 NATO 16" Barrel Quad Rail Handguard 6 Pos Stock A2 Grip 30 Round Mag Troy Folding Rear Sight BCM650-133
(no reviews)
Our Low Price: $1,413.50
SIG M400 Enhanced Patrol FDE $1375 or the M400 tactical $1275
Those are the ones I'm leaning towards with the Colt at the top my list. I've read where it has surprisingly outstanding accuracy for a carbine length AR. Plus I like the monolithic one piece rail.
I'm sure there are other options out there that I haven't mentioned or seen in the same price range. So post them, I'd like to see some other models that I might really need to consider.

FWIW I built mine from scratch during the height of the panic for just under a grand for what I think is a top shelf rifle. I just waited for deals to pop up at normal prices over about 6 months.
Certainly not the best out there but more than adequate.
Palmetto lower, LPK, barrel, and misc upper parts.
BCM upper, midlength gas tube with low pro gas block, and BCG.
YHM rifle length hand guard.
Primary Arms optic.
Magpul furniture.

I have a Colt Match Target 20 inch and a DPMS Oracle 16 inch. The Colt has slightly better fit and finish than the DPMS but neither has had any problems with jamming or accuracy. DPMS might not have a great reputation but in my experience it is just as reliable for approximately half the price.

10 yrs ago DPMS made a respectable product ... not the best, but affordable with decent quality
in 2007 they sold out to Cerberus (Freedom Group) . Within the last 5-6 yrs, many other companies have passed up DPMS by focusing on "quality not quantity". Cerberus Capitol is basically a bunch of bean counters looking to turn profit.
This = truth.
I have an "AR10" made by DPMS before the Cerberus acquisition. It's the most accurate .308 I have ever shot.
But there's no way I'd buy a DPMS today. The comments about them in this thread mirror the experiences noted by folks on the arf.com and M4.com boards.

I paid out the arse for a colt 6920 shortly after sandy hook. I cant make any comparison, but i love that gun. I pulled it out of the box and was popping shite at 250 yds without touching the sights. Havent had a single problem with it, knock on wood.
