How is it dumb? You are the owner of the dog and you not keeping it on your land caused it to be killed. I just had one of mine get killed by another dog but he was free roaming so it was my fault. I don't blame the dog that killed him.

Dog owners should take responsibility for letting their dogs get in trouble.

Please tell me you're going back to third grade grammar class. It's hilarious to me that people try to insult someone with improper grammar. This is irony at its finest. Stop trying to insult people pal. You're only insulting yourself.

You place more emphasis on the freedom than the pulling of a trigger?

No I just don't place the value of an animal the as that of a human. If the dog was on someone elses land and justified be shot then it was the owner that allowed the dog to get in that situation.

Stop trying to blame the land owner for protecting his property. Don't they have any rights?

Justified? What are the justified categories?

He had to deal with the attacker.

i am late to the party, but wtf does this mean and/or what does it have to do with the conversation. you cannot shoot a dog b/c it's on your property, UNLESS you are/were being threatened or attacked by said dog. i'm like alx are you special?

No shite.

Correct.

The exception to the rule is livestock. Livestock owners have the right to shoot on sight if they want to.

This means you've lived sheltered life if you have never had to defend your property from a stray or aggressive dog. Therefore you know nothing about the damage a stray dog can do to your pets and livestock. It's not the dogs fault it just does what nature intended it to do. It's the owners fault for either letting it run loose or dumping it out somewhere in the country.

It's really common sense on both parties. Doesn't seem to be much of this when crucifying dog "killers".
