I love to fish by myself but I might have to start splitting gas on trips with someone else but I can still kayak as long as I want
There's a thread similar to this on the OT.

I fished a tournament this weeken and spent 200 bucks on gas between my boat and truck to pull the boat . Add in the 30 bucks for a gallon of 2 cycle , 30 bucks to fish the tournament and 20 worth of food and drinks . Add that up and it cost me 270 dollars to fish for one day

Roundtrip to take the kayak to the coast is roughly a tank of gas- about $30-35. I think I will be ok.

I've got a 24' Roballo I was going to get running again and sell over the next few months. Just two months ago when gas was easing down around $3 and hopefully going under that, it looked like a great time.
Now, pushing $4, I think I'm back to letting it sit again.

I don't think I could sell my boat. I cherish the freedom of being able to hook up and go. I just might not make as big a run as I used to.

Bought a new boat last year and I decided to go with a smaller motor. I can make 5-6 fishing trips with my 60 4stroke so it doesn't bother me that much.

I've been itching for a larger boat, but I may wait another year. My little skiff with the 50hp gets us to all of the close spots, and at $4+/gallon most of my fishing will be close. I'll go with friends if we want to fish the larger lakes or the Biloxi Marsh.
Going to the woods costs about $50 in gas, so I'm only going if I have time to stay overnight. But I neeeed to kill my first turkey this year, so I'm going.

Seriously, this thread sucks. That being said, I usually just split gas with friends. I'm going to go no matter what, how can I just stop something I love to do.

I think instead of flying down the salt ditch and running from the jetties to moss lake ill probably fish harder at the places that I go to. Try to make em count as opposed to just running all over the lake.

It's affecting my whole lifestyle. shite costs so much. I went to the grocery store after work yesterday got like 10 things and I was $90.
Filled my pick up up Sunday and it was $87. Can't just rip and run anymore. Normally I'd go dick off at the camp on weekends, but I can't do that as much anymore.
Same here. I shoot way less than normally would usually I would take all my rifles out regularly and shoot them just to keep sharp with the fundamentals. Now I find myself conserving ammo. I cant get past the fact that every time I pull the trigger it costs about $1. I still havent found any plinking ammo for my .308 at a reasonable cost, forget about shooting off any .556 and that .308 ar-10 I was planning to build. Inflation and the price of fuel forget about just driving somewhere to drive.

what really pisses me off is that i can't find the gas cap on my kayak to fill it up. it's gonna run out one of these days.....

Doesn't affect me at all. When you think about it, the difference in gas is not earth shattering unless you are filling up a yacht.
If the price of gas goes up $.50 and you burn 60 gallons in a trip for your car and boat, the difference is $30. I think the higher gas prices are more psychological than anything.
