They run around and tree the squirrel. You then know what tree a squirrel is in, so its only a matter of time before you kill the little sucker
Gotcha, Thanks.

unlike most dogs, my lab is oblivous to squirrels right now. im thinking ill kill a few and let her play with a skin or something so she can learn the scent, then take her out there. sound about right?

we used to put rabbit pelt on a string and run the beagles around. I bet you could do the same with squirrel. Just do your best to make her hate or at least be aggressive to the squirrel.
My dog goes ape shite when one he sees one. I found that out on a jog. I thought it was funny, so I would just drop the leash and let him go after them. Finally...I thought to myself... "Hey... I bet he would do this on a hunt." and he did. He's great at it.

THE PROPER ANSWER HERE IS IT DEPENDS ON WHAT SPECIES OF SQUIRREL.SORRY FOR YELLING
Cat squirrels see you and they will take off running.. You want to ease around, and be ready to break and run through the woods to get up under them.
Fox squirrels see you and sit still .You have to wait a fox squirrel out, and sometimes stand still for long periods of time.

Another thing... having a dog along has helped flush a rabbit or two that I didn't see.

I think that gun would carry a little far if you firing up into the trees.

I'd take my catahoula with me but that long legged thing is liable to run to the next parish after God knows what.

I have two methods.
Method one:
Walk into the woods as quietly as possible, sit down where there's a lot of squirrel food. Wait for them to move. Sometimes they're out of range so I get up and move closer. Shoot, walk a little farther and repeat. If there's a road or cleared trail where you can walk quietly, it works even better.
Weapon for this method:
Method Two:
Walk into the woods and beat on every tree and shake every vine in sight. You'd be surprised how many squirrels are actually up there that you wouldn't usually see.
Weapon for this method:
A shotgun might also work.

The s/n threw me off. I thought maybe you just forgot to remove the A from b$b's bet. I've got a bob tail fox squirrel running around my house. Me and the kids named him stubby.

I want to kill one of those blaze faced fox squirrels to mount.
I saw a monster black squirrel while deer hunting this weekend. I need one of those on my wall also.

These dumb asses over here in Bama dont believe me when I tell them of the elusive Negro Squirel of Concordia Parish.

I've only seen one black squirrel and I tried to shoot it with buckshot because I wanted to stuff it. Apparently I missed. I was young, and not the crack shot I am today.
