Pioneer 700-4 vs 1000-5 - Does anyone own the Pioneer 700-4? If so how’s the bikes power, any regrets to purchasing the 700?

Just want a SxS for around the house and trail riding with the family. Was going with the 1000-5 but price difference between the two the 700 caught my eye.

Interested to hear responses, as I’m casually shopping, too. I see a lot of them on trailers in the BR area. One thing I have learned is that many folks complain about the lack of low enough gearing. That is a concern of mine.

Search out rando posts on here. He's discussed the Hondas multiple times.

Maybe Google search tigerdroppings pioneer rando and see what populates

The 700 is reliable but a turd.

The 1000 is only reliable if driven frequently and rather...spiritedly.

The other guy is right. If you Google "tigerdroppings.com rando Honda" I've written books on all of them on here

In any case... Wait until dealers aren't charging MSRP to buy. Everyone's stocks are thin so they aren't dealing like normal. My buddy said September is likely when it eases up.

Others are bored and paying it. Three other friends have bought viking, ranger, and talon 4 seaters. All paid retail. Screw that.

FIL has the 700 and its serviceable. He has to drive A little bit on a road to get to his fields in the top speed is about 40 to 42 mph. If I remember correctly it only has two seats as well. A few guys he hunts with have the 1000’s. It’s by far a bigger and better machine than the 700. TopSpeed is much faster, more seats, wider and more stable. They all mentioned as well the aftermarket ads ons from the dealership are insanely overpriced

I have a 700-4, 3 years old, it is perfect for me, I like the convertible bed /back seats, I can fit 4 people in it and it not be as long as a bus going through the woods, it is anemic, but it stays on my 125 acres and I don’t need to go over 40 mph, I have children that come to the farm and I like that it is anemic as it keeps them in check, it pulls my loaded trailer anywhere I want to take it and I have a tractor if need be, it has been very reliable, with slightly more than regular maintenance over 3 years and several hundred hours,

I do not like the heat that is generated in the front seat

I hear (from a dealer) that the heat issue has been taken care of.

I’m leaning towards the 1000-5

I've bought almost all of them I'd have a use for

I also service quite a few for the older guys in our hunting club.

I'm stuck in an office 60 hours a week. Working with my hands is something I enjoy though. So I do it for the old timers for free deer meat and the chance to reminisce about my grandpa. Most were his hunters for the last 40 years or so.

The make a silicone blanket that goes under the seats. Get one.

Guy on the pioneer forum sells one. I have one on my 500 I run 99% of the year.

There's only so much you can do when you're sitting on top of a 1 liter motor.

A general or viking is better if heat is a worry.

What’s the story on the Pro FXT? Are they a good machine for work and hunting, no mud riding? It'd be replacing an old Foreman 400, to give an indication of the demands. I promised Honda America CS a few years ago that I’d never buy another product of theirs.

Other than a weird seat, the fxt is one of the best side by sides made.

Other than the opinion of the alleged master of all things SxS's, my Pioneer 700-2 deluxe has somehow been great. Couldn't tell you what the top speed actually is, but have seen around 40 and had enough for me on a farm road.

Have put plenty loads on it and pull the 6X10 trailer it rides on loaded up as well, no issues with power. Have 27" 589's all the way around on it. Been great around the rice field scene and pulling a trailer full of kids and parents at Halloween......all I really need it for.

It's simplistic AF, just like everything else with a Honda logo on it, but it WORKS. If you want something with a lot of shiny lights, gadgetry, and top speeds you're sure to do something stupid with, Honda isn't for you.

They must be. I've been casually looking for a deal on a 4010 or a pro for a while now. The only one I saw that looked like a decent buy was sold within hours of listing.

Everything else seems to be priced super high or a complete pos.

I said it was reliable in the first post.

Unlike some, I don't let a logo craft my opinion for me.

Good day.

But conveniently leaving out the "....but a turd" part?

Expectations of speed, "pep", "sporty", "power" varies greatly, but based on reviews I've seen here and other forums, it's hard to find a consensus that says that machine is a "turd". To each their own.

On the field hunting scene, I'm seeing more and more of them around farms during duck season, though still not caught up to the hold Polaris has long had on this market.

Find a good used one, I was negotiating one before Covid 19 cranked up and wound up not buying it, a couple months later I found a near perfect condition Rhino. My only complaint about that machine is how loud it is in the cab.

I’m gonna wait a while for prices to drop a little. Hardly any dealers have any right now.

It's the same story as the boat business. Inventory is low because people have nothing else to do but partake in outdoor recreation. Those with bikes (or boats) they've wanted to sell are asking, and getting, premium prices. Just not a buyer's market right now, at all.
