i am one of those who hates the design of serpas. always thought the location of the release button for the gun was dangerous.

i have one of these owb/iwb sas holsters. Quality is top notch. plus its reversible.

The serpas are pos's, that get jammed up when dirt gets in the release mechanism. And the release mechanism is in a terrible spot. The only redeeming quality is it's cheap. A lot of training academies have banned the serpa.

Look at Safariland holsters. They are my favorite.

I almost always end up with multiple holsters (usually getting on some 6 month wait list is part of it), but I also almost always end up buying a Garrett Industries Silent Thunder for every new pistol I come to own.

Wow-- Too many choices !! Question- Are the leather holsters a little easier on the gun finish than the Kydex made holsters? It appears that the Kydex material would tend to quickly wear the finish raw.-Thanks

Probably but it will have a significantly longer service life than leather.

Why are you worried about messing up the finish on a Glock? It's already ugly as sin and is really a utilitarian handgun since they are known for reliability. Plus the slide coating is quite tough and it will take a while to see any wear. But us in the shooting community call dings and scratches "character."

+1 here for the Safariland holster. I also really love Bladetech since you can get a custom holster done for a streamlight or surefire as well. They are sturdy and adjustable as well.

I have more of Tony's holsters than I'd like to admit, great product and great service.

not true.

Larry Vickers doesn't allow them LINK
quote:

FYI - Serpa holsters are no longer authorized in my classes I am in Pittsburgh this weekend ( July 9-10) and these classes will be the last with Serpas allowed as the students did not get the word in time to change - I have 3 LE students in the class with them I am not the first to ban them (Gunsite already has) and I am sure I will not be the last Please pass the word to anyone planning on attending one of my classes in the future Be safe LAV

Fletc banned them LINK

Gunsite banned them LINK

Kyle Defoor basically banned them LINK

Wilson combat banned them LINK

Gear Handgun Class Ear and eye protection, electronic muffs recommended Reliable service handgun, 9mm preferable Secure carry or range holster (no Serpa’s please) with a proper gun belt and 2 magazine pouches 4 magazines minimum 800 rounds of ammunition NOTE: NO aluminum case Blazer or other non-reloadable ammo allowed on the range! Range brass becomes the property of Circle WC Ranch when it hits the ground.

Advantage Group right here in Louisiana doesn't allow them LINK

REQUIRED GEAR: Eye and Ear Protection Reliable Handgun * Minimum of 4 Magazines 500 Rounds of Factory Ammunition Belt Mounted Holster (strong side, NO Serpa, NO crossdraw) Magazine Pouch (double pouch recommended) Water/Snacks

Serpa lock gets stuck Here is a relatively simple test that Mac did on the Serpa, it of course fails.

I could add more if I need further evidence. I usually don't say things unless I know I am right.

Safariland makes great holsters, it's really the only one I have experience with but I use one every day without problems.
