Didn’t help that Bobby Jindal raided nearly $20M out of the Rigs to Reefs fund that oil companies had been paying into so he wouldn’t have to raise taxes.

Was closer to 72M when it was all said and done. Myself and a couple others from CCA met with Jindal about this issue and he promised it was only going to be a one time deal. When we walked out his office, I told Cresson he was lying to us. I could tell by the way he was acting.

Yep. The history books won't be kind to Jindal's term.

I’m a recreational fisherman and I believe with the evolution of ipilot trolling motors, strike line charts, and having 5-8 boats on every rig and pipeline crossing from 5 to 40 miles out while killing 10 snapper per fisherman to keep 4 is definitely putting a sizable dent in the population.

This is a gross exaggeration. The only groups of people pile driving the fish population are the commercial guys and to a lesser extent the charters.

Out of Grand isle on opening weekend if the weather is nice there are that many boats on most rigs and known wrecks. They get fished out by the end of the season.

That's where I fish the most, and i filled my box up with 10+ pound red snapper in 38 feet of water at the end of the season. It's not that bad, and they are not fished out, and I saw maybe 5 other boats? If anybody is fishing them out, it's not the rec guys.

At cypremort point we fish bottom structure 90-110 miles out. Catch hammers every time. The oil platforms usually give up some nice ones but the sharks have taken them over. It's pretty ridiculous. It used to be nice to run 40 miles and catch fish.
