What are 600lb Longhorn X Angus bull calves going for?

Don't know, but a family member has a few for just the hell of it. Now if only I could shoot a deer with a spread like that.

About 750 to 800 for bulls for heifers 700 to 750

Yea they are spotted and obvious LH. Didn't even have enough horns to use to rope.
The reason I ask, a family member is getting 2 heifers and 4 bulls for 700 a piece. His plans are to feed the Bulls through the winter and sell.
I told him not to because LH aren't bringing anything at sale but he ignored my advice. I think he may lose money. He'll keep the heifers as starters since he sold out 4 years ago and wants to build a herd again.

The market right now is for a lower weight on calves. 350 is selling the same as 600 pounders. My advice would be sell the bulls now take your loss and with the heifers breed to an Angus or brand our simmental

The heifers wil def be bred to either Angus, limo, or Hereford.

I go to at least 3 sales a week buying and selling and know for a fact he will take a loss not a big one but still a loss. His heifers are his saving grace

Factor in grass, feed and hay for this winter and it will be bad.

No feed, no weaning. Just pulled them off and sold them the same day.
The issue, as someone mentioned earlier is that 250 to 600 pounders bring about the same price because as weights go up, $/lbs. goes down. In my mind, it's not worth the hassle of feeding them out.
I would suggest he castrate all 4 bulls ASAP.

Two of them have maybe 2-3" of horn and the other 2 are muleys. Wont be any value for roping stock

Clyde you getting close to having some calves off of gumdrop?
Feliciana I have watched the angus and brangus breeds pretty much go stale. I have watched my angus wilt in the heat of this summer with plenty of grass. My son raises longhorns and they have thrived so I don't think they are going wrong with the longhorn heifers. I actually have some registered angus in with one of my sons longhorn bulls with my end goal being heifers with 1/4 longhorn.

A buyer will buy them they just aren't going to bring as much. Maybe sales there are different but I don't think so not to the point they would be passed up. I have never seen a no sale just because of spots especially on a 600 pound calf. Cattle market is a wild ride right now. Are they red and white or black and white?
