Here's another one of my "girlish fears of the ATF"...

Legit or Fed-Boy Trap?
Came in a daily "Knight's Armament search" email from eBay this morning.
It's basically a solvent trap... but not a solvent trap? Who wants to be the test case?

It’s a linear compensator. Not saying I’d be willing to argue with the ATF on it, but the distinction is it doesn’t have baffles and therefore isn’t a suppressor. They’re gaining popularity as off the shelf options but aren’t as effective.

they're already seizing these "muzzle brakes"

I have a kinetitech version of the end of the smith and wesson .22 ar.
It does nothing to the sound. It does make the gun nose heavy. Which on a .22 means a graoefruit sized grouping at 40 yards when mag dumping
Armadillos catch hell in the yard.

So with the reversing of the Chevron decision does the tax stamp and all this bullshite around suppressors go away?

tax stamps and suppressors are required by law.
The National Firearms Act of 1934 to be exact. Gonna take a lot of effort to overturn that.
Frames and Receivers Rule
Forced Reset Triggers Rule
Pistol Brace Rule
These, however, are on the potential chopping block due to Chevron.

Pistol brace rule is dead on merit I believe. It’s done.

Any piece of piping could be considered a moderator using that logic.
Modify the NFA
Modify the NFA

nothing will change
To be fair, there is actually an act that was passed that created the tax stamp rules. It wasn't the ATF just making rules up on their own. Tax stamps may one day be struck down if someone can bring the case to the supreme court to show that it's an infringement on our right to bear arms, but at this point, that has not been the way it's viewed.
This does open the doors for all the things that the ATF extends rules to, even if there is no true justification as pre the letter of the law. Forced reset triggers are not automatic weapons, but the ATF decided on their own to treat them as such. Pistol braces are not rifle stocks, but the ATF decided to treat them as such. My understanding is the CVX ruling provides precedent that they don't have the sweeping authority to apply rules as they see fit, just because they think it's "close enough". The NFA does have some clear rules spelled out though, and this won't affect that.
