Help with Riding Lawnmower Options.

If you have a flat property I would go zero turn.

I have some hills in the background so i went with the John Deere X500 with the 54" deck.

Picked one up that was two years old with service records and have had zero problems whatsoever.

Just avoid the Lowes level line and you will be fine.

I sell and service Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, and at one store had JD due to the local JD dealer did not want to service THD and Lowes. The dealer finally decided to service them again, so I dropped the line to give it to them. I got my hands full as it is.

In the price range you want Cub Cadet or husqvarna. Those riders have done a good job of improving their decks. JD units have been stagnant. Cub Cadet stayed with hydros while husqvarna and JD on the 42" went to a cheap general CVT transmission.
I like the XT1 series by Cub Cadet alittle better than the husqvarna. Cub has done a great job improving the deck belts being thrown on this series. Really don't have to complaints and rarely see one back for mfg issue. Husqvarna always tapered their pulley so belts issue never that bad. I would go with either one

If you buy the cub cadet and replace you blades to with the extreme blades. Very aggressive cut, last longer, and not that much more for a set.

I do not know about husqvarna dealer deals in Louisiana.
I saw in an ad Cub Cadet through Tractor Supply had a nice rebate on their riders starting this Wed. Dealers only have $100 mail in rebate. I sell both because dealer financing options are better and they accept lower credit scores than big boxes.

Idiots that says bad boy whatever. First, not many dealers want to deal with service on them. Company is not easy to deal with. I see them come in all the time especially lately for throwing belts on the 60". I traded 6 less than 2 months old units last month and put customers in cub cadet z force LX or equivalent Gravely line. Good lines for the money. Again, you are in the $5,000 ballpark on up your zero turn should not throw belts. The bad boy fans don't tell you that.

My Dad was leaning towards a Husqvarna because my Uncle has one, but I've heard Briggs & Stratton motors aren't what they used to be.

I looked at this Zero Turn Husqvarna for only $2,800.

I've had a Hustler 20hp 52" cut for 12 years now and am VERY pleased with it. Nothing done to it but regular maintenance.

recently bought a 46in xt1 cub cadet. love it. no complaints.

The EFI been out about 3 yrs.
I sell a few at one location in the Midwest.
Biggest selling point is in cold weather it is easier to start as people use snow blower attachments with their riders.
Walbro makes the injection system.
Dealer units offer single or twin cylinder.
Big boxes only the single cylinder.
It has been in snow blowers for years just with a carb.

Now again the engines have some history as carb units on snow blowers. The engines so far have been great with the injection. Now when you get into year 4,5, and 6 will I see computer or injection issues. Just do not know at this point.

As for a servicing dealer you have to buy a cable and CD from your parts distributor to hook up to the computer. Less than $200. Out of all the ones my stores have sold I personally hooked all of them up for PDI's and have not seen any issues.
