Help with first suppressor

I’ve been reading the thread about buying new guns for young kids. I did that for my first born. I have lost more guns than I will ever shoot in boating accidents. I have decided I need a suppressor. My plan is to get one for my rem model 7 308 and one for 22 cal. I feel the 308 would be tamed and my now 5 year old may be able to wack a doe in the next year or two. Questions. Can that barrel be threaded? Is a suppressor worth it? Can I also thread and put it on my 3006? After my trust is approved can I purchase more without the wait time? I plan on going through silencer shop and a very reputable store. I’m going to discuss this with the gun shop but figured I’d come here first.

Yes you can have a barrel threaded and I think silencer central does it or any good full service gunsmith.Silencers are awesome and it’s tough to go back to my rifles that aren’t suppressed at this point.
Yes you can put it on your 30/06 as long as it .30 cal or larger it will work for .308, 30/06, .300wsm, 300 win etc.
Still have a wait time on every one you buy.
I went with a .30 cal can Hyperion K due to the short length for my first one but then went with the Primal .46 cal so I can shoot most pistol cals with it or anything between .30 and .46 cal in a rifle.

Be warned. Stamp collecting is addictive.

Determine what your main goal for the suppressor is? Do you want the quietest 30 cal suppressor possible? Tbac Magnus. Do you want something for hunting and weight/length is more important than suppression? If it will go in multiple guns get something with the HUB system and I like the Area 419 system and components. Doesn’t add much weight or length as a mounting option.

Plan to use it as a hunting gun for me and my 2 young boys in the near future. Length isn’t a big concern. The model 7 is fairly compact. Are the shorter suppressors more expensive? Less effective?

Suppressor on 308 is the cheat code for kids. If the Model 7 is an heirloom, don’t hack it up. Buy a Ruger American Predator with 18” bbl for the host. Then call Ruger and buy a youth stock if you need something for the kids.
I don’t love the length and weight they add, but suppressors have been life changing for me and my shooting.

All depends. Check out PewScience for sound ratings. It's the only accurate resource for sound testing. I am going to buy the new CAT silencers as they exhibit amazing sound performance for length and diameter.

Do yourself a favor and get a .22 and a .30 cal at the same time.
Once you buy 1, you will want another.
Get more bang for the inevitable 8-9 month wait to get approved.
Don’t base your decision solely on PewScience. Take their info and use it along with other web research from people with your same calibers, rifles, etc.
Don’t base what you see on YouTube as a sound level indicator.
Lastly, the most expensive is not always the best/quietest.

I agree with this. I believe Silencer Central has a buy one get one free special right now where you can buy a 30 cal. can or one for $850 and over and get a 22 can free. worth looking into. i'm not personally familiar with these suppressors, but have heard good things about them.
i have the silencerco omega, hybrid, and spectre 2 and have been very haoppy with all of them.
if you are going to shoot a 308 suppressed, make sure the barrel twist rate is 1:10 or faster. If not, most subsonic rounds will tumble. i had a 1:12 twist rate and had this issue. i had to find subsonic ammo that was i think 185 grains or less for it not to tumble. Winchester power point subsonic 308 - 185gr. worked great, but getting a faster barrel will provide a lot of options for better ammo if you're wanting to hunt subsonic.
good luck
