Montana this year, 3 of the 4 shorthairs got popped. This one was the worse and had to spend the night at the vets getting them removed.

Grew up in Michigan. Every couple of years our dog would get into one. We were poor so we pulled them out ourselves. Our dogs never learned to stay away....

My boxer has been sprayed by skunks at least 7 times now. You'd think she'd learn... but nooooo, she always gotta go sticking her snout up a skunk's arse.

Neighbor across the street had both dogs get into a porcupine. I told him I want to let my boxer stay the night in his back yard... maybe she'd find it and finally learn a lesson.

Does cutting the quills in half make the barb let go of the wound site?

I saw them cut it before pulling.

I'm don't think so, we had broken off quills popping out of his face, like pimples, for 2 months after the incident.

Sure have. That crafty little bastard had stuck raw hide all through his quills as bait.

North America’s second largest rodent is North America’s friendliest rodent. Haha.

That has to hurt, but dogs are good at seemingly “ignoring” pain.

This one has the look of, "I'm going to hear this damn story told over, and over, and over at the camp for as long as I live."

This one has the look, "Don't care. Ate that arse."

I saw some other YouTube vids where if you cut the quills in half while still lodged in the skin, the barbs will relax a bit and be easier to pull out.
