Throw a few hundred more at the problem and get one of these in the LEM trigger configuration.

In a 9.

Bought a shield in 9mm at academy in houma for 450 a month ago. I have seen them at other academy locations since. Not that hard to find as of late.

Since you already paid for the gun, just fix that trigger pull with some Galloway LC9 Performance Parts

To bulky to conceal, OP is looking for thin.

Worse recoiling CC gun I made the mistake with was a Colt New Agent. With hot loads follow up shots were impossible.

Too bulky to conceal

It's a compact pistol. It's a perfect CC weapon and absolutely the right size for shooting. Full hand grip and short barrel, there's really nothing wasted or too large.

The width of the LC9 is .90", the p2000 is 1.30". That's huge when comfort is on the line for all day carry. The HK is a nice gun, seems the OP is looking for smaller concealment options though.

I saw that. I'm not real experience in taking the gun all the way apart. I'm afraid I'd screw it up and render it useless!

It's not a double stack, it's engineered to be as small as possible and still be comfortable to shoot. They made the SK to have a shorter grip, but still the 2k is a compact pistol. There are smaller guns but that doesn't redefine the 2k.

H&K looks interesting. But they are a little out of my price range. I think the cheapest I saw on gunbroker was $800.

If you are going to quote, quote the entire sentence. An almost half inch difference is a big deal when concealing. The OP says he likes the concealablity of the much thinner LC9, the p2000 is a lot larger.

As others have said the shield and the xds are some other options for the OP.

The p2000 may be engineered to be small, but obviously not nearly as small as many others out there today. That's why there are many better options for the OP.

Eta: do you conceal carry that p2000 all day?

Yea the cheaper ones have a hammer too, V3. You want the LEM, V2. The money is relative, HKs have features that no other guns do...it's not a $500 gun vs an $800 gun, it's an $800 gun.

Whole sentence quoted. No, I work at NAS A and I'd get fired, and worse, for carrying on site.

Just saying, the gun is designed to be as small as possible. He doesn't like the shitty little gun so I recommended something a bit more substantial.

Other people have commented on guns to CC, they obviously have experience cc'ing.

You don't CC at all, or by your admissions dont for any considerable length of time.

The OP clearly wants a smaller, easier gun to conceal.

You suggest a larger, more bulky, more expensive gun based on little to no first hand experience on cc'ing.

I love my Kahr P380. If you're not deadset on a 9mm, check these out too.

Small guns suck to shoot, is that a revelation to anyone? He wants to shoot his gun not just carry it.

I agree though, he should get another tiny gun and hate shooting it - makes sense.

One must be carrying the gun in order to shoot if the time may come. In my experience and helping other folks CC for almost a decade, is that if the gun is uncomfortable to carry, they don't carry it all all. No gun, no shooting.

If you want a range gun, don't buy a small carry piece. OP clearly wants a CC piece, so size is the issue.

My vote is XDs or M&P Shield.

My .45 Xds is still fun to shoot, so I would think the 9mm would be fine.

That's just a reality of small guns. Maybe consider .380....but as others have said: CC guns are not meant to be fun to shoot. If you have to use it, I guarantee you won't mind the recoil.

but I hate the trigger pull

That's an easier issue to address. You can either get an aftermarket trigger, or go test out other pistols until you find one with a trigger you like.

My original suggestion, Kahr, has a buttery smooth long trigger pull. Perfect for CC.
