Has anyone ever had a shotgun barrel straightened?

Several years ago I bent a shotgun barrel and it's been in the closet for a while. Haven't asked any gunsmiths, but could a machine shop possibly straighten it?
Info: 30" barrel from older Remington 11, while on sideways gunrack on 4 wheeler rack I went between two trees that were too close. 4 wheeler made it but barrel didn't. Slight bend about halfway.

I bought a new barrel for a gun once. Probably the same price as having one straightened and safer than rolling the dice on the bent one.

Eta: Although depending on the model, a new barrel could be hard to find.

I know Rob Roberts will bend a barrel to adjust point of impact, not sure if he will bend a barrell to straighten it.

Yeah, that's going to be a pricey barrel, if you can find one. Numrich has a couple, but don't know if they're the right gauge, and not cheap.

I don't know how bad the bend is or how straight it needs to be to suit you, but a muffler shop or electrical shop that has hydraulic benders for conduit may be able to get it pretty straight. Some machine shops have a gizmo I think they refer to as a "shaft straightener". But before I went to any of those options, I would call a gunsmith and see what they would charge. They can also give an opinion on how safe the barrel is. If its a gentle bend, that's one thing. If the bend is sharp, I'm not sure if anybody can help you. The metal on one side of the bend will be stretched, so to speak. Hard to put that back. Good luck.

I've bent mine back with a rubber mallet. It's pretty easy to do

I brought one to a gunsmith and he said he could straighten it to the point that it looked straight, but he said it would probably still not shoot straight. He recommended not spending the money to do it.

While we're on the topic, what about a slight bulge in a barrel? My grandpa had an old single shot 12. Other than a little sentimental value, it isn't worth much. But my uncle pointed out the bulge to me and said it probably isn't safe to shoot. It's been sitting for a long time. Bulge is a little further than halfway down.

Barely noticeable at first. Uncle had to point it out to me. Not really visible, but when you run your hand over it you feel a slight raise in the barrel.

I had a friend that had a bulge in his barrel within a few inches of the end. He continued to hunt with it with no issues. His was very noticeable. I can't remember the details of how it got there.

It is probably ok, the pressure drops pretty quick when you get away from the chamber. The buldge can be repaired to a degree, but stressed metal is stressed metal and will always be weaker. I wonder what caused the buldge, something partially blocking the chamber?

It is probably 70-80 years old. It is an old Long Tom. No idea. I saw it in his gun case for years, along with a couple of other guns he had. I ended up getting a .22 revolver, a red ryder bb gun, and this shotgun after he passed. My uncle kept the rifle, a pellet gun, a .380, and whatever else he had. I think it was his father's. My mom found an old pic of my grandpa hunting with his dad when he was maybe 8-10 years old, and he's holding it in the picture. He was 82 when he passed a couple of years back.

It's probably safe to shoot, but I probably wouldn't shoot this gun anymore, just not worth the risk in my opinion

Yeah I haven't shot it. I have a couple of others that were passed down that work great. I was just more curious than anything. I know I'd have to shoot something fairly weak in it to begin with.

No, not Damascus. Just an old ugly shotgun. I'll see if I can post some pics some time this week.
