Greetings to the OB.

Lady friend(no pics) is looking to get a handgun. I feel like the topic of which gun to choose has been beaten to death pretty solidly on here, so I'll go ahead and skip over that part.

What I was hoping is for someone that would have recommendations for an instructor in the Houston area. I'm a crappy teacher, so rather than try I want to get her set up with someone who can give her a good intro to handguns.

TIA

We're in the Heights/Washington area. So pretty much equal distance drive anywhere

I'd suggest contacting Charles Cotton. Texas Handgun Training.

Charles is a competition shooter and an attorney - he's the guy who literally wrote the Texas Concealed Handgun "License to Carry" statute.

I'm not sure if Charles is still teaching. But he would be an authoritative source for a recommendation on which instructor to use. (As it is with anything, there will be good instructors and poor ones. You'll really want to start out with a good one.)

P.S. You're wise to not try to teach her yourself. There are two things that a "significant other" should generally avoid - teaching his SO to drive and teaching her to shoot.
