They're not lacrosse good but they're plenty serviceable. I have worn their chest waders in the past and remember the boot being comfy, so I'm assuming the hip boots would be fine.

Cheap hip boots usually have loose ankles, which is a major problem that is easily fixed with duct tape in the morning.
I went through many rolls of tape making ankle braces on cheap hip boots. They're tough as hell though and last very well.
