Gas or Electric? I know nothing about them but want to purchase one to ride my child around our neighborhood.

Electric are very quiet and their pretty great unless you have a few hills. Biggest issue with them is the batteries. It's expensive to replace which must be done every few years. Expensive as in $500-800

Gas. Especially when it comes time to replace 6 batteries.

for riding around neighborhoods, I'd get electric and it is not even close. I would check with the golf clubs around to see if you can pick up a used one for cheap...but be prepared to spend $1K on batteries pretty soon after you get one.

How long do batteries normally last. My girlfriend won a Clubcar on a $10 raffle 2 summers ago. I keep it in my garage and hardly use it and now 3 of the 6 batteries are shot. Tried recharging and get nothing. I checked water periodically, so I don't think that was the problem.

Not sure but they'll usually be more than an electric.

those that I have dealt with have lasted 4-5 years. I think it is a matter of charging cycles and not just time that ages them.
