Never been a fan of Glocks. They dont feel good in the hand and I dont like not having the option of a thumb safety. The Springfield XD or XDm is a much better option, imo.
I dont know anything about the S&W so I can speak from any experience on it. I would say the same thing posted previously, handle/fire them both, assuming you can, and pick the one you like best.

Glocks and S&W's don't belong in the same sentence. The Smith and Wesson just can't hold a candle to the Glock.

I love the look of a Glock. Clean and simple. Not all the extra crap on them to help sell them. Straight to the point. All black. Lots of others model from the Glock. I like the low profile compared to Springfield. If you shoot Springfield better, then buy it. Same with any gun, any model. Most top gun makers in a vise will shoot very close to each other. In your hands, each will shoot different. That is where accuracy come in, not so much from the gun but on how you hold and pull the trigger. most of the time

LOL
Maybe a S&W Sigma, but the M&P line of S&W's are exceptional.
Like I said, I have both. I can't say one is better than the other. The S&W feels better to me, and the spare interchangeable backstraps are nice. The Glock is what it is. It goes boom and never fails. (That being said, my M&P has never failed)
If I was going to buy another pistol and had it narrowed to these two, I'd prefer the S&W M&P.

I'm sorry but this is more than sufficient reason to never buy another S&W
LINK
I own some older S&W revolvers from prior to their sucking Clinton's dick but I'll never buy another one of their products again.
And compared to a Glock...
If you even have to think about this I don't know what to tell ya.
Glock.

So you believe everything you read on the internet? I have to admit that i dont know much about chuck hawks but that article is just one man's opinion.....

Uh no. I've worked on the internet since before people even knew what it was. But prior to that I was a manager of a major big box sporting goods store where we sold tons of guns.
My experience with S&W is in line with what that guy wrote. We had many of them come back for manufacturing problems. Tolerances are not as tight as they are with other manufacturers in my experience. I've personally been cut with shavings from their revolvers coming out of the gap between the cylinder and the barrel. And they did sell us all out to the Clinton administration. That's just facts.
You can buy all of them you want. I won't ever again.

I dont know about everyone else but when i buy a new gun i go over it with a fine tooth comb before signing paperwork. I have a s&w 1911 and had a s&w m&p ar. Both good weapons. I also have a s&w bodyguard .380 which i am still putting through its paces before i will give a judgement on but so good so far. Imo all manufacturers have their own issues some worse than others. S&w is no exception....neither is glock for that matter.

One other brand I will never own is Mossberg. I saw so many Mossberg shotguns come back with dangerous failures I would never waste a dime on them after that.
Take it however you like. That's my experience with mossberg. When the 835's came out more than a third of them came back to us with failures that were because of design and pure shitty quality control. We had people walking in with live ammo jammed in them from the first time they shot them.
I'll pass.
No thanks.

The difference in Glock and S&W is that you can hardly find anyone that will say that about a glock. Because they pay closer attention.
The thing about sloppy tolerance's is this. Half of them will be outside the range you want for things to fit right. The other half will be tighter. So you CAN get really damn nice S&W pistols that hold up very well if you get lucky. If you don't, you can get a piece of shite.
Personally I just want them to be what they're supposed to be.
It's like the difference in Snap-on and Craftsman. One has twice the range of 'acceptable tolerances' than the other. Sometimes that means the Craftsman will be better fitting. But it's rare.

The only way to answer this is for YOU to shoot both and decide.

A thumb safety is more psychological than anything, and I know because I can freely admit the lack of real difference but still "feel" like it makes a difference.
The thought process involves a frank determination of what is truly "safe" and what is truly "ready". Why do we rely and feel good about a thumb safety? What accidental discharge hazards will a thumb safety protect against that one without does not?

I just ordered the S&W M&P 9mm pro series, some of you guys are making me nervous with your comments

You are always going to have guys that adamantly defend "their" brand and piss on all others.
There is nothing wrong with the Glock.
There is nothing wrong with the S&W M&P.
I carry a S&W M&P9C, but I have a Glock 17 readily available in my bedside table at night. I trust my life with, and feel comfortable shooting a tight group, with either weapon.
