it’s not the same down there anymore

I've been told of guides moving to places like Dularge cause the fishing in Venice isn't the same. Not sure how true that is, but that's the first time I've ever heard that story.

my brother owns a camp at Falgout Canal Marina. He loves it too.

I love it too, cause I don't pay for it and I use his boats

That's where Lloyd Landry went but he's the only one I know about. Dularge is a great location, aside from Specks they have good red fishing and some excellent bass fishing as well. No restaurants down there if you don't feel like cooking.

I would go with renting. I know can’t leave your stuff down there but it can’t get stolen if it’s not down there.find camp house boat you like rent it and treat it nice. Owners will move you to top of list if go often pay and keep clean. Same goes with guides.

yeah but the marina store makes one of best hamburgers and/or roast beef poboys you can get. You just have to be good with sitting at the picnic table or on the tailgate of your truck.

but you are correct. Big Eds BBQ is about the closest place I can think of.

I kept my boat in Charlie Hardison’s shitty boat sheds for years, switched over to Venice during the heyday in Yellow Cotton Bay before all the grass was killed, and when I decided to stick my toe back into having a place, I bought a really nice travel trailer and put it at Moran’s Marina. Good people renting all around us, no one messes with our stuff and I’m back into always having a place to stay and cook at a minimal investment. I have a very good guide buddy I still fish Venice with, but as said above, record high river levels have caused trout to pretty much disappear.

The Crab King just opened up a little seafood joint (boiled only) right past Gulf Island.
