Anyone own a GemTech or comparable AR upper.
I'm considering buying one. I Iike how compact the weapon is compared to on screwed on.
Thoughts?

GemTech
They still exist?
Not joking, haven't heard about any of their products in literally years. FWIW, the loudest cans I've heard in my life were Gemtech's nonintegral options and Daniel Defense's integral AR. The integral 10/22 barrel they have is solid though. Haven't heard their AR barrel
When I worked at the gun shop, Gemtech had a deal where they would gift us free suppressors if we sold enough of their cans. I never got one because I couldn't make myself push the product, I just couldn't sell people gemtech cans in good conscience knowing that far better options were out there. Put it this way - we used to take customers out in the back to demo suppressors if we felt they were close to buying. Never did that with the Gemtech stuff bc they were too loud
They may have improved in the years since, but like I said, it seems like there are so many newer companies that have blown past the Gemtechs and AACs of old

Are you looking at a .300 blk?
Specter Cat ODB is supposed to be a great silencer.
I have the WB (5.56) and it's quieter than either the Sandman or the Thunder Chicken I have.
it's half the size and weight of either of those as well.

Something to consider is that usually you are losing barrel length when its integrated, its basically a shorter barrel with an integrated suppressor. So if you are looking at it for a long gun for potentially longer distances its most likely not going to be as accurate.
You could lost 6-10" of rifling is what I mean.

Thanks for the advice. I went with the Energetic Armament Sonus 9 and their Peak 30 over the integrated suppressor. Bought them from Defender Outdoors in Fort Worth.
Two for almost the price of one.
