That's good. I was nervous about too much tourist stuff. I appreciate all of the recommendations.

Cades Cove is badass
Horseback riding around the mountains
Dixie Stampede was a mixture of pretty cool and cheesy as hell

Stay in a nice cabin so you don't have to get out much. I like the ones with the hot tub on teh balcony. We stayed there a lot.

The Highlands, ask for Howie. Bring him some jambalaya and sausage.

Not the best or most luxurious place, but very nice and a pretty awesome view overlooking Gatlinburg.

That's flair and admins

I definitely want to do the hot tub on the balcony. Hope to not leave much. I'm thinking a couple bottles of makers and a lot of R&R. May go with another couple. If that's the case we may go ski for a day if that's possible. If not, I'm not sure how horseback riding is in the winter?

We've stayed in cabins at Gatlinburg Falls several times. Their website has plenty of info and pictures of each cabin. We have found them to be very nice, just as they're shown on the website and although they are located in Gatlinburg they are on the north side and the park can be accessed via the bypass without fighting any traffic.

They do have other cabins around them and aren't as remote as some of the "view" pictures appear.

There are two locations of Gatlinburg Falls and I've only stayed at the one on Hidden Valley Rd., though the two are right down the road from each other.

We traveled a lot when I was growing up, all over the country and into Canada. The Lost Sea stands out as the most interesting and memorable place we ever visited. Keep in mind, caves and stuff are cool to a 14 year old

GeauxElliot- where is that cabin and what is the name of the rental company? It looks badass and we are starting to look at some cabins for next fall. Any info is appreciated. I have been looking at Elk Springs cabins in gatlinburg but we haven't nailed anything down yet.
